specified path \ is unavailable. twennie03-20-2007, 03:44 AMHi all, I am getting the following error during uninstallation: Warning 1314.The specified path \ is unavailable. When having a http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/error-1314-the-specified-path-appdata-is/ea4006f1-ab29-4418-9b24-e6862ef4d151 look at the verbose log file I can find the following: PROPERTY CHANGE: Modifying INSTALLDIR property. Its current value is 'C:\Programme\[Path to application]'. Its new value: '\'. (I replaced the actual http://community.flexerasoftware.com/archive/index.php?t-167834.html path with the placeholder in the above message). Funnily, if I delete one of the keys in the registry which points to the installation directory under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components the uninstallation works fine. During installation the path to the installation directory had been set by an Installscript. I have been using the code of the installscript in other installers and it is working fine there. Does anybody have an idea why the INSTALLDIR property is changed during uninstallation? Thanks Powered by vBulletin Version 4.2.2 Copyright © 2016 vBulletin Solutions, Inc. All rights reserved.

InstallShield Express 3.53 appears to have a problem with paths of the form: 'Drive:\Program Files\Company Name Inc\ProductID\Version\bin", when that path is entered into the 'Change Current Destination Folder' dialog. When the path is entered error 1314 the with parenthesis, "Error 1314. The specified path ... is unavailable" is returned. When entered without parenthesis, "Error 1317. An error occurred while attempting to create the directory Drive:\Program Files." is generated. The last message is displayed at the 'Installing ProductID' dialog, presumably, because the directory already exists. In each of the above two cases, only the drive letter differed from the default INSTALLDIR value. However, when I indicate that I want to change the installation path but do NOT change the default INSTALLDIR value, the install completes successfully. The problem is that InstallShield is selecting the INSTALLDIR value, and prevents users from changing it. This omission seems to be caused by a failure to check for the existance of directories before attempting to create them; and/or, a failure to check the value of the return code from CreateDirectory() or whatever function is called. Is there a work-around for this problem? Thanks, Reply With Quote 01-29-2002,04:00 PM #2 Chandima View Profile View Forum Posts InstallShield Developer Join Date Oct 2001 Posts 4,852 I'm no
