Guest I'm in a bit of a bind and I could really use some help. This morning, we rebooted one of the cluster nodes in our two node W2K3 cluster. The first indication of a problem is

node's cluster service, it fails with the same error. I'm at a complete loss to explain why this is happening and how to fix it, so if anybody could provide some insight, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/871236 dln, Sep 28, 2005 #1 Advertisements dln Guest Ok, my fault ... I change the "Backup Files and Directories" right for the cluster's group policy and didn't include the cluster service's service account in the list. Everything works just fine now. Thanks anyways. dln "dln" <> wrote in message news:... > I'm in a bit of a bind and I could really use some help. Make sure that the account is a member of the local administrators group on both nodes and that the domain account used for the cluster service is not locked or disabled. If you are really stuck you could try making the cluster service account a domain adminstrator just to get you running. If that does not work then it sounds like something was specifically changed on the user rights for the service account. Good Luck! -- Mark "dln" wrote: > I'm in a bit of a bind and I could really use some help. This morning, we > rebooted one of the cluster nodes

Solved SQL 2005 Cluster will not start - A required privilege is not held by the client Posted on 2010-07-09 MS SQL Server 2005 MS SQL Server 2008 Databases 1 Verified Solution 2 Comments 914 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-09 I recently installed Windows updates current through May 2010 on my two node SQL 2005 cluster. The passive node was rebooted. Then the active node was rebooted without moving the cluster to the passive and/or verifying that the clustering service was even running on the passive node when it came back up. Now when the clustering service will not start on either machine. It gives me: ERROR 1314 - A required privilege is not held by the client. Both machines can still see both the resource and quorum drives, but not access them. It appears that each machine thinks it is the passive node? 0 Question by:alan2938 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 29 Active today Best Solution byRich Weissler Hmm... I think you could then bring the resource online on one of the nodes. Check the event logs to see whether additional details. 0 Write Comment First Name Please enter a first name Last Name Please enter a last name Email We will never share this with anyone.
