When I created this quick patch, I did not get any error.
Quickbooks Update Error 1603
I then installed the quick patch, during status "patching files", I got an error "error 1328.error applying patch to file c:\config.msi\ptd.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor. " There is the Abort, Retry and Ignore button. If I click on "Ignore", it continues installing the patch. For information, yesterday, I created the same quick patch 8.2.4, and when I install the quick patch (for testing only), it went through without any error. Today, I rebuild the same quick patch (I added a change in the registry entry of the installed machine). On the test machine, I uninstall our software, reinstall version 8.2, and reinstall the quick patch 8.2.4, and I got an error this time. What can I do to fix this problem? If I ignore the error, is it ok (the application seems to be running fine). Thanks. It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor." I actually tried this a week or so ago for the 2.90.2 https://community.flexerasoftware.com/showthread.php?130661-Error-1328-error-applying-patch-to-file-c-config-msi-ptd-tmp update while on the phone with support; after several attempts the tech suggested using the full installer, and that worked. I will do the same for the 2.90.3 update shortly. Just want to make sure that you know this has happened again. Comments Steve November 2008 Thank you for this information, I will attempt to reproduce this error in our labs in the process of resolving this issue. Please let us know if you http://forums.netikus.net/index.php?p=/discussion/153/error-1328-failures-applying-patches-full-install-works have any further issues such as this. TheoKa November 2008 I have the same problem, with 2.90.2-->2.90.3 BillAy November 2008 Just to verify, the full install of 2.90.3 ran just fine. BillAy November 2008 Slight modification to my comment... the install ran fine, but every time I upgrade these days the blasted thing keeps overwriting the ODBC name in the default profile with "Eventsentry MSSQL" or something like that. I am using MySQL and the ODBC DSN is "ES-MySQL". This may be related to one of the InstallShield issues. Ingmar November 2008 We have an update for InstallShield coming out shortly that we received from Acresso software, though I'm not sure this is related. We'll see if this reproducible. Here is something to try that might help us either escalate this to InstallShield or look into it further on our end. When you run another patch upgrade and get the "Error 1328, Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\PT14.tmp", leave the dialog up on the screen and do the following:1. Create a checksum of the file with our "shachecksum.exe" utility. This file should be in the installation directory of EventSentry, and it's also in the NTToolkit. Post the checksum.2. Rename the file to a .exe extension (e.g. PT14.tmp -> PT14.exe), right-click the file in windows explorer and view the properties. Select the "Version" tab

I'm having trouble with it detecting an earlier version of the application that has been installed. For instance, I have an application called XYZ with a base version of 3.7.0.188 that I want to patch with version 3.7.0.201. I can successfully apply this patch to the 3.7.0.188 base. Now if I install an earlier version of application XYZ (3.7.0.173) and try to apply my patch, it fails. I want to be able to detect this and display a dialog that this can't be done, or am is my thinking all wrong? What's the correct way to do this? I feel that InstallShield should be able to inherently do this. windows-installer installshield patching installshield-2011 share|improve this question asked Jan 9 '13 at 17:21 user1893305 111 BTW, "it fails" is pretty non-descriptive. It would be more clear to provide any error message you see (is it just the Setup Interrupted dialog?), as well as any relevant error codes seen in a verbose log. –Michael Urman Jan 10 '13 at 13:14 This is the error I get: Error 1328.Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\PTC90A.tmp.
