when updating QuickBooks 2010, specifically errors 1328 and 1603. Here is how you can resolve these problems. Intuit provides bug fixes via an update mechanism that transfers a webpatch file quickbooks update error 1603 to your computer. You can get this through the automatic update feature, or by downloading a manual update file. If you download a manual update, you apply the update by running the downloaded file. With an automatic update you will see a notice that it is available when you start QuickBooks. If you are in a multi user situation system error 1072807676 you want to be careful about when you apply the update – see my article on automatic updates for a discussion on that issue. I recently was notified about the R9 update to QuickBooks 2010. I had already installed this on several of my computers, but one system hadn't been updated. When I start QuickBooks on that system I see the notification: When I clicked on Install Now the update process began. After awhile I received the following error: There are a number of reasons that this can happen – generally it has to do with either an error in the web patch file or possibly an incompatibility with another version of QuickBooks that you may have installed on this computer. Intuit’s recommendation here is to just press the ignore button. In this case I had to click the ignore button multiple times. After awhile, the installation process aborted, and another error was displayed: If you are in a multi-user environment this can be a big problem if you find that SOME c
QuickBooks Installation Errors December 19, 201319 Comments Written by Charlie Russell Intuit releases updates to supported versions of QuickBooks quite often, and this is the time of year when we seem to see a lot of updates. That means it is a good time to

Quickbooks 2016 Error 1603
QuickBooks installation on my own computer, it is rare for me to run into problems. That is odd, because my primary computer is a very “dirty” system. I have all kinds of odd programs installed. I use http://qbblog.ccrsoftware.info/2010/10/quickbooks-update-errors-1328-and-1603/ this system to develop software, so there are odd bits of code floating around. I also have many different versions of QuickBooks installed, from 2010 through 2014 for both Premier (Accountant) and Enterprise. It is a mess! Why I don’t run into more installation problems than I do, I don’t understand (sheesh, you would think that I am looking for problems?). Unfortunately, when installing the manual web patch for the QuickBooks 2014 R4 update for Enterprise, https://www.sleeter.com/blog/2013/12/fixing-quickbooks-installation-errors/ the installer failed. Here’s my tale… QuickBooks Installation Errors As I said before, my computer system probably isn’t typical. Well, in some ways, maybe it is, since most client computer systems that I deal with are usually very “dirty”. Lots of junk, lots of programs that have been installed and uninstalled, little effort in cleaning things up. Who has the time for that! I had installed the new releases of both Premier 2014 and Enterprise V14 recently, which put them at the R1 level. What about the R3 release? I hadn’t installed it here yet, as I was doing most of my work with 2014 in a separate “virtual” machine (more on that below). Now that R4 was out, I wanted to jump straight to that. I downloaded the web patch files (the “manual update” files) from the Intuit support site. First I updated Premier – no problem there. Then I tried to update Enterprise – and ran into errors. Cascading Error Messages First up, a 1328 error: What do you do here? What I should have done was to search for 1328 errors in the Intuit support site. That would have saved me a few steps. What I did do was what I usually do when I run into issues with QuickBooks. I’m curious as to what is going to happen, so I started cli
the issue, none with the solution.> I was recently trying to install Adobe Reader, and had an http://www.leeholmes.com/blog/2013/01/14/resolving-adobe-reader-error-1328updated-by-other-means/ unfortunate blue screen right near the end. When trying to install again, I got this error: Error 1328. Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\PTxx.tmp. It has probably been updated http://www.quickbookstrained.com/quickbooks-premier-2011-problem-toogle-to-another-edition/ by other means and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor. Apparently, Adobe Reader 11.1 is distributed internally as two error 1328 MSIs: "Adobe Reader 11”, plus a patch to bring 11.0 to 11.1. After turning on MSI logging, I could see that the temporary installer files were going to C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Setup\{GUID}. The solution, in my case, was to go to that location, run AcroRead.msi manually, run AdbeRdrUpd11001.msp manually (which failed), and then go to the control panel to quickbooks 2012 update uninstall Adobe Reader. After that, running the official setup program (from http://get.adobe.com/reader/) worked. Additional things I did along the way that may have helped, but I don’t think were required: Manually deleted files left behind in ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0’. To do this, I had to take ownership of the files, and manually give myself permission to delete them. Manually deleted a bunch of .tmp files from ‘C:\Config.msi\…’ that were time stamped from around the time I was doing this installation. Manually deleted a few MSIs from ‘C:\Windows\Installer"’ that were time stamped from around the time I was doing this installation. Updates » QuickBooks Premier 2011 Problem - Toggle to Another Edition Today's tip may be only beneficial to the QuickBooks ProAdvisors out there. I ran into an unexpected problem today in regards to the Toggle to Another Edition feature located under File. It would not change the Premier Accountant's Edition to the Pro Edition. So off I went on this long journey trying to solve the matter. First I went to Settings/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs to see if I could Repair the QuickBooks 2011 version that I had installed. For those of you that maybe have never used this function, QuickBooks gives you a choice of Repair or Uninstall. I thought I would try Repair first and chose it. About three quarters of the way through I receive an Error 1328. Error updating file. C:\Config.Msi\PT145.tmp System error - 1072807676. The message went on to inform me that I could contact quickbooks support with this link, which was www.quickbooks.com/support/install.html. Meanwhile on the screen the error gave me three choices which were Abort, Retry and Ignore. I decided to Abort so that I could go to the link to see if there was any explanation on how to fix this error. So I typed it in and that link took me to a QuickBooks page, and amongst the errors was Error 1328. I read the information which had a number of Solutions to help me through this. They ranged from: Repair QuickBooks, which of course was not working. Reinstall QuickBooks, which I had not tried as yet. Renaming the config.msi folder. I decided to rename the config.msi folder with the suggested name, which was config.msi.old. Since this is a temporary folder during the Repair cycle, it would revert back to config.msi once the Repair was finished. Back to the Repair choice again, and again I got the same Error 1328. I decided then to Uninstall the 2011 Premi
