This error can happen during the repair process, as well as other times when installing, updating, or uninstalling any version of QuickBooks, not just Enterprise. Most of the time this error is harmless and if "Ignore" is continually selected, the process will complete successfully. The message received usually refers to a specific file. https://www.qbdeal.com/quickbooks-enterprise-blog/169-error-1328-how-to-resolve.html The error looks something like: c:\config.msi\PT**.TMP. The file name in the error message may not be the same as shown here, but the C:\config.msi\ path will be the same. While this may seem repetitive, there are actually two possible situations to resolve shown here. The difference is the way the Error 1328 presents itself with the option buttons. Situation 1: If the Error 1328 contains the buttons Abort, Retry, and Ignore the first step is to rename the config.msi folder on the computer. Temporary (.tmp) files in the config.msi folder prevent QuickBooks from finishing the process it is using. The config.msi folder is a temporary repository for storing scripts needed to roll back an installation if it fails. Once the program installs correctly, the contents of this folder are deleted. Sometimes they are unable to be removed, so they become stuck. Once they are stuck, they can cause problems with QuickBooks repairing or updating itself. To locate the config..msi file, follow the steps below: Open Windows Explorer (right-

I’ve had a QuickBooks issue that I need to deal with but have been stumped on how to proceed. There was a QuickBooks 2009 “R11” version update that came through but every time I try to install the update I get the following error message “Error 1328.Error updating file c:\Config.Msc\PT4D7.tmp. System error – 1072807676.” I have tried shutting down my McAfee, but the problem persists. Can you suggest how I can go about fixing this? If you don’t know how to fix it, can you suggest a way to get in touch with QuickBooks people that can help me? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am really stuck on this one. Answer: Try renaming your config.msi folder. Open Windows Explorer (right-click on the Start button and select Explore) Double-click on the C: drive Show hidden files and folders (Tools > Folder Options > Select View tab >Hidden files and folders > select Show hidden files and folders > Click Apply and OK) Show protected operating system files (Tools > Folder Options > Select View tab > Deselect Hide protected operating system files > Click Apply and OK) Right-click Config.Msi folder and select Rename Add .old to the end of the filename and press Enter (the folder name should now be Config.Msi.old) Hide protected operating system files and hidden files and folders again (following Step 3 and 4 above, but hiding, instead of showing) Now update, repair, uninstallation or installation should complete without error If this doesn't work, it sometimes helps if you download the update manually from the Intuit website: QuickBooks 2009 R11 Update If this answered your question, please consider spending a minute or two posting a review for us. ____________________________________________________________ Written by Ruth Perryman, MBA, CMA, CFE, CFM Ruth is the president of The QB Specialists, an Intuit Solutions Provider that has helped thousands of businesses nationwide get the most out of QuickBooks and payroll.
