When I try to test the e-mail, I get the following message: Error 22022: SQLServerAgent Error: The SQLServerAgent mail session is not running; check the mail profile and/or the SQLServerAgent service startup account in the SQLServerAgent Properties dialog. When I open [Server].Management.[SQL Server Agent] in Enterprise Manager, The only option that seems at all relevant is the "Mail Session" section; but the "Mail Profile" field (and everything else in the box) has been grayed out. I get an error that reads as follows: Error 22022: SQL Server Agent Error: The SQL Server Mail Session is not running; check the mail profile and/or the SQL Server Agent service start up account in the SQL Server Agent Properties dialog. I viewed the SQL Mail properties and it shows Start. Any Suggestions? (MS Outlook or Exchange). If not, install MS Outlook. If so, right click on the Mail icon on the desktop on the server and select properties. Click on the Show Profiles button. What is the name of the profile that starts when using MS Outlook? It should be something like MS Exchange Settings. This profile must be for the Account that starts your SQL Services. If that account does not have a mail profile, log on as that account and create one. If it does have a mail profile, then THAT name (MS Exchange settings) must be the name in SQL mail (under support services), and also in SQL Agent (under management). Hope this helps... Solved Error error 22022 22022 when test emai on Sql Server Agent Operator Posted on 2005-11-10 MS SQL Server 1 Verified Solution 6 Comments 14,294 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-05 Hi experts I got the following error when I tested emailing to the operator in Sql Server Agent. "Error 22022 : SQLServerAgent Error. The SQLServerAgent mail session is not running; check the error 22022 sql mail profile and/or the SQLServerAgent service startup account in the SQLServerAgent properties dialog." However, if I stopped and then started the SQL Server Agent again, I can send email to the operator successfully. The problem happened again when the server is restarted. Here are some checks on my server. - Running SQL2000 on SBS2003 (WIN2003). Outlook client 2003. - Mail profile is using Exchange 2003, not POP3 - Mail Profile test in Sql Server Agent is alway OK even though I cannot send email to operator. - SQL Server Agent service startup account = SQL server service startup account = mail profile mail box AD account - SQL server agent is set to start automatically with Sql Server (which is not the default setting. I don't understand why?) Have you came acrossed situation like this?
