Also affects distribution/package Nominate for series Bug Description Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon I had seen similar symptoms in Natty testing and some other vm's but now this affecting my production system. gnome-settings-daemon crashes and the https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/742374 desktop appearance falls back to a mixture of default gnome and a few ambiance elements. The only logging I notices is in /var/log/messages (and kern.log). If I log out and log back in, the the daemon is restarted and the appearance is as expected. But only few moments of using Evolution provokes the next crash. Also a reboot did not alleviate the issue. excerpts from the crashes (one line per crash): Mar 25 11:34:02 schiefer kernel: [16304.972202] gnome-settings-[2419]: segfault at 0 ip 00007ff9151bdec0 sp 00007fffeba9cd78 error 4 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2600.1[7ff91515b000+e0000] Mar 25 11:45:20 schiefer kernel: [ 58.350342] gnome-settings-[2336]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f6e5a8ebec0 sp 00007fff94f8c388 error 4 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2600.1[7f6e5a889000+e0000] Mar 25 11:47:06 schiefer kernel: [ 163.928191] gnome-settings-[3287]: segfault at 0 ip 00007fa6bf504ec0 sp 00007fff4c8df858 error 4 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2600.1[7fa6bf4a2000+e0000] Mar 25 11:51:03 schiefer kernel: [ 401.565227] gnome-settings-[4105]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f9f0470bec0 sp 00007fff8d7c7b08 error 4 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2600.1[7f9f046a9000+e0000] ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: gnome-settings-daemon 2.32.0-0ub
