However, Partition Magic says "there are no partitions on this drive that can be merged." So I try to re-format the drive with Partition Magic, however after rebooting and starting the process, it says: Error 4 while executing batch Error 4 Bad argument/parameter Thoughts? 3 Replies I have a hard disk with 120GB in size. And I did two partitions on it to make the first one as C: system drive and the second one as a Data drive. But later on I had a space issue on the C: due to too many programs installed. Then I tried to merge these two partitions in PowerQuest PartitionMagic 8.0, but failed with the following errors like: Error 4 while executing Batch…. Error 4 Bad Argument/Parameter…. First, I guessed it was because my hard disk had some disk errors. So I did chkdsk DOS command to check and fix disk error on the hard disk I tried to merge. After that, I tried Merge again, but I still had the same error. After a few weeks' struggel, http://www.sharkyforums.com/showthread.php?233647-Partition-Magic-problems I could not make this action work. The conclusion is the Merge action in PartitionMagic is not sophiscated as what we think, and is a error-pro action. And we should avoid as much possible as we can And the work-around is to Delete the second partition, and Resize the first partition to make the result of Merge. Here you go: Move all data files on the second partition to another extra hard disk drive as back-up. Go into the PartionMagic or Windows Drive http://lichao.net/eblog/problem-with-partition-merge-in-partitionmagic-80-200901231.html Mangement to delete the second partition. After the deletion, you can use PartitionMagic to resize the first partition to use all these deleted free space. When you are done with the resize, then you can copy back all your data file to the first (or merged) partition. It works for me! tu put it simple, just delete the second partition and adjust the primary one. You don't even to reboot. Thanks for sharing!
