So, I took it to the dealer, and they said it was a defective unit, so they changed it with a brand new one. It's been like 2 months since then, and yesterday, I tried to load a CD and I got that same error me

Two things I learned that may be helpful to the next person installing one of these: 1) You can unplug the OEM radio and plug in the Scion HU from the drivers floorboard without doing any disassembly whatsoever; so make sure http://www.spyderchat.com/forums/showthread.php?27729-Anyone-tried-a-DIY-repair-for-Scion-6-cd-error-3-4 your new unit works before you start removing trim and screws for the actual installation. 2) My cd changer showed an error 3 on arrival: turning the unpowered unit upside down and LIGHTLY hitting the back of the unit with the palm of my hand three times, then powering it up while holding down both "cd" and "up" buttons successfully parked the unit in SHIP mode; then I unplugged the unit, gave it a couple minutes for any capacitors to run down, plugged it back in, powered it, and pushed "LOAD", and it works flawlessly.... for now. Good luck. So I searched and read about a dozen threads related to this subject. However, only one resulted in a fix, and that was after two (2) trips to an authorized Pioneer service center and $350. It seems like a great many of the people buying this unit get either the error 3 or error 4 code (Im getting the error 3), so my question is this: Has anyone attempted a repair on their own? I know the common theory is that some delicate part can’t survive even mild g-shock. I’m more inclined to believe some delicate switch gets thrown by g-shock, but my evidence is just as vaporous. The Pioneer website doesn’t even acknowledge they built this unit, much less

I would do a junkyard search if you really want the original or you can get a newer stock radio. And there is always aftermarket radios. sciontc_mich Moderator Michigan, US 2006 Scion tC View sciontc_mich's Ride Apr 28, 2011 4:20:17 am Edited 2 times, last by sciontc_mich on Apr 28, 2011 4:22:58am.
