are getting a 6602 error when downloading large emails in our application. I'm wondering if it's an issue of the client and server (using ADS 11) not communicating for too long during the download. The server has a client http://devzone.advantagedatabase.com/forum/questions/6241/how-to-fix-a-6602-error-client-comm-layer-timed-out-waiting-for-receive-packet-from-the-advantage-database-server timeout set for 120 seconds, but I'd expect a different error for that? Also, http://serverfault.com/questions/245295/osx-10-5-leopard-to-failover-clustered-windows-file-share-error-6602 I've read about the max_timeouts setting for the ads.ini file, but I don't understand the exact interactions that are going on and what to change. The program runs in the main thread and continues to communicate with the ADS while a thread downloads the email. The thread creates its own connection to the server. Would long downloads cause error 6 this issue? The call stacks suggest that it's the main thread that is getting the error. 6602 comm network timeout error asked 25 Feb '15, 10:17 keith c 486●32●40●52 accept rate: 12% edited 26 Feb '15, 09:20 Jens Mühlenhoff 1.3k●4●10●37 2 Answers: oldestnewestmost voted 1 max_timeouts means the client will wait max_timeouts*15 sec before throwing this error. Increasing this value (client side ads.ini file) might solve your issue. Here's a KB item that error code 6 deals with this: http://devzone.advantagedatabase.com/dz/content.aspx?Key=17&RefNo=070919-1945 link answered 26 Feb '15, 05:27 Joachim Duerr 8.7k●9●31●133 accept rate: 18% 0 This error continues to plague me at multiple sites. I haven't messed with the ads.ini settings yet, but there must be some reason I've started getting the errors at sites that never did before. I'm using Delphi XE7 and the latest FireDAC that came with it. My question is, what is the consequence of getting a 6602 error exactly? Can I trap it and continue on? How can I cause the error to occur on purpose to test it? What's the best way to gracefully handle this exception in my application to keep the end users from being annoyed? ( I don't mean to ask how to program around exceptions, I mean what should I do for this particular error when it happens ). This setup is working very well with all of the Windows clients that I know of, as well as with Macs running 10.6 Snow Leopard. However, the Macs on our network that are running 10.5 Leopard are not connecting as they should. I don't expect that the failover-clustered part of the equation is causing any issues, but I thought that in the off chance that it may be causing issues, to include it here to provide a hint to whoever is willing to help. When a machine running Leopard attempts to connect, it trys for a bit, then asks for the username and password to connect with (as expected). The username and password are entered (correctly), and almost immediately it comes back with the message A volume failed to mount. The volume "Home" could not be mounted. When that box is dismissed, it continues to attempt to connect for a short time, then it comes up with this unexpected error: A couple of Google searches have not come up with anything (for me) about Error code -6602. Any ideas what this error may be, and/or how I should go about fixing it? mac-osx windows-server-2008-r2 file-sharing failovercluster share|improve this question asked Mar 9 '11 at 17:28
