VPN connection in Microsoft Windows XP called VPN. It is set to store a username and password. When I double clicks the VPN connection in Network Connections, it connects. When I attempt to use RASDIAL from the command line, I get Verifying username and password... Remote Access error 691 - Access was denied because the username and/or password was invalid on the domain. For more help on error 691 the remote connection was denied this error: Type 'hh netcfg.chm' In help, click Troubleshooting, then Error Messages, then 691 I thought maybe the RASDIAL could not pick up the stored username and password, so I tried RASDIAL VPN USERNAME PASSWORD (assuming my username is USERNAME and my password is PASSWORD) Same error. Could you please tell me, if you have installed ForeFront on Windows 2008 to act as VPN server? CHAP and MSCHAP authentication protocol only works with Radius Clients. If this authentication protocol is in place, you would need to configure users as Radius client. I did some investigation and found the settings shown in the screen shot. Turns out it is all configured on our DC which is the only server with Windows 2012. I had a bit of a look at EAP-MSCHAuser name and password combination you provided is not recognized, or the selected authentication protocol is not permitted on the remote access server.
