The embedded Flash plugin would certainly implement this "interface" (so the browser sees it as just another NPObject). When you call a method on that object, there are several function that wrap that call serializing the data passed to the object and back to browser's runtime. It is difficult to tell for certain what exactly didn't work, bhere for a quick overview of the site Help Center Detailed answers to any questions you might have Meta Discuss the workings and policies of this site About

When the code runs, I get the error "Error: uncaught exception: Error calling method on NPObject!" From my day's worth of googling around, this seems to be be a security matter, and I've done everything I can find, but the error still comes up. Some details: * http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1418528/javascript-flash-throwing-error-calling-method-on-npobject This happens with both Flash 9 and Flash 10 players. * The swf is in the same domain as the php file that loads it and that contains the javascript that's trying to call the Flash function. * I'm using sfwobject2.2 to load the swf file, like so: var flashvars = {};
var params = {};
var params = {menu: false, bgcolor: "#ffffff", allowScriptAccess: "always"};
swfobject.embedSWF("/path/to/swf", "id", "480", "310", "9.0.0", null, flashvars, params, attributes); My Flash movie is doing the allowDomain thing, correctly as far as I can tell: Security.allowDomain("www.mydomain.com"); * I know that the ExternalInterface.addCallback is set up properly -- when I disable it, I get a "no such function" error instead of the NPObject complaint. This is driving me completely crazy, and I just can't figure out how to correct it. Any advice out there? javascript flash externalinterface share|improve this question asked Sep 13 '09 at 18:45 Jim Miller Did you ever find an answer? javascript - Unkown error in uploadify - Stack Overflow View More at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9998474/unkown-error-in-upload... It appears there is a problem in the sources of uploadify that conflicts with jquery UI in IE 9. Specifically in the swfupload utility. In order to fix it you need to do a little hack which appears to have detailed steps here: http://www.uploadify.com/forum/#/discussion/comment/19212 Sorry I can't validate this without setting up a whole test environment. Not something that can just be put in a JSFiddle. Good luck, let me know if you succeed. javascript - Uploadify in ie9 getting js error : SCRIPT5007: Object ex... Firstly, just to confirm that the correct way to do this is: $('#file_upload').uploadify('settings','formData', { 'myfield': 'myvalue' }); Secondly, the reason it was failing in my case was because the swf object that handles the uploading was in a tab that was not yet visible, thus disconnecting it from the Javascript. For this reason, you can change other settings when its not visible but not formData as that is set directly on the swf object. I hope this helps someone else as much as it would have helped me! :) swfupload - Setting formData in Uploadify 3.2 Fails with a Javascript ...
