There are 4 site systems on the primary site. one is the primary site server and the other 3 are DPs and a few other roles (assigned roles via console, not installed via setup.exe). On the admin console, I https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/871164 used to be able to query all components and only a couple on th ePS were stopped (normal). Now, all 5 components on site system #2 return the communication error. (SMS_component_monitor, sms_executive, sms_mp_control_manager, sms_mp_file_dispatch_manager, sms_outbox_monitor) I rebooted the primary site server ad the site system #2, and the error still occurs... Site system #2 seems OK, logs don't change when I query from PS. Site system#3 and 4 have DP https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/c0e39950-c106-44e1-bb27-461a0e04819b/error-communicating-with-component-and-missing-smsexecutive-service?forum=configmgrgeneral and other roles, and are queried OK. I see this in the status messages "SMS Site Component Manager is reinstalling this component on this site system.". It has been trying for about 24 hours. Also, #2 is missing the service called "sms_executive". Any ideas on how to get the status querying again? thanks Edited by fern.santos Tuesday, October 04, 2011 2:02 PM Tuesday, October 04, 2011 1:32 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Microsoft suggested doing a sire reset due to other issues. so far, so good. Now I have a new component listed in "Component Status" called "SMS Providers" with availability "Unknown" If I look at status messages I see that site component manager successfully reinstalled the component on the site system. If I try to query the component in Configuration Manager Service Manager I get "Error communicating with this component". I don't see any relevant errors on SMSPROV.LOG or SITECOMP.LOG. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks, FP August 27th, 2015 12:10pm Here is a picture of my Component Status node with the SMS Providers object highlighted: I've noticed that in my lab, where I ran through the SP1 upgrade prior to upgrading production, I do not have this item in Component Status... My site seems to operate fine, every function I have tested so far is working properly... Anybody else seeing this after upgrading from 2012 R2 to 2012 R2 SP1?
