It almost sounds like it might be an issue with one of the files in your copy, or with your source disk. but this will help us determine that. –Paperlantern Jan 4 '12 at 0:18 I got the same error when I tried to copy the folder to another location on my local disk –user701510 Jan 4 '12 at 0:32 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted Most likely there is a problematic file, or problematic portion of the disk that is causing this error then. i would suggest running a chkdsk on the machine, which might fix a problematic file issue. And MIGHT be able to correct a minor disk error. How to run Chkdsk from My Computer or from Windows Explorer Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk that you want to check. Click Properties, and then click Tools. Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box that shows the Check disk options is displayed, Use one of the following procedures: To run Chkdsk in read-only mode, click Start. To repair errors without scanning the volume for bad s

This typically happens with the second or third folder I try to rename or move. Navigating away to another folder and then coming back or closing explorer and reopening it usually helps but on the second rename or move I'm back to square one. I've been reading and searching on the forum and this error copying file is what I have tried so far: stop the windows media player network sharing service pause indexing temporarily disable antivirus software used the system file checker to check integrity all to no avail. This is without a doubt the most annoying "bug" I have run into so far as it makes it virtually impossible to get anything done or organised. Has anyone found a real solution to this problem that does not involve manually unlocking every single folder before working with it (using 3rd party software - another option I have tried. Works but slows you down a lot)? Hi linmix, welcome to 7F! This may seem counter-intuitive, but, go to Control Panel >Folder Options >View Tab, and make sure the first box that says "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is not checked or ticked. Restart your machine. Try to replicate the problem. See if that helps. My System Specs Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway DX483

I have a strange problem when trying to copy files from my intel iMac to my Seagate NAS. I am copying files from my HD and when the file is nearly copyied i get an error message saying that the file can't be copied because it is already in use by another application. Well... it surely isn't. I try copying them by ftp (Filezilla) and everything works fine. I can then access them through my media server but !!!! NOT THROUGH MY iMac!!!! It is like the files are not there!!!! But they definetely are! I tried fixing the disk permissions, rebooting NAS, iMac etc but nothing seems to solve the problem. Is there any suggestion of what might be wrong? I am under Mavericks and i am pretty sure that the problem started after the update. When copying from my external USB hard drive to my iMac HD everything works fine. The problem is from my iMac to my NAS. iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9) Posted on Nov 1, 2013 1:34 AM I have this question too Close Q: Strange problem when copying files to NAS All replies Helpful answers Previous Page 2 of 8 last Next by mbelleghem, mbelleghem Jan 9, 2014 4:23 PM in response to rohan3au Level 1 (0 points) Jan 9, 2014 4:23 PM in response to rohan3au Same problem here, on a completely clean install (not an upgrade) of Mavericks. NAS is a QNAP TS210. Only on large files, and moving folders to folders is fine, it's only moving invididual large files that is the issue. Unfortunately I work with audio, so move lots of large single files to and from my NAS as a normal part of my workflow. Very frustrating.Did not have this problem with previous versions of MacOS.
