Hardware: Soyo Dragon Plus XP 1700 2x 256MB Crucial DDR GF4 4400 Adaptec 29160N Cheetah 15.3 Toshiba 52x CDROM Sony CRX160E CDRW I'm getting the same error with two different error copying copies of XP, and I've installed from one of them before, so the media should be OK. Tried both optical drives, too. Now, driver.cab is a pretty huge file (like 75 MB), so I'm guessing that it's causing problems either with the RAM or the disk, and since the only new things here are the adapter and hard drive, I'm thinking my SCSI setup is to blame. This is my first time using SCSI, so make error copying driver.cab sure I'm not missing anything. Both the disk and the adapter are set to their default ID's (0 and 7, respectively). The cable supplied with the Adaptec kit has a terminator at the end, and I'm plugging in the drive on the connector just before that. The disk shows up in the BIOS scan as U160, and I can access it fine both in DOS and Linux. Forcing Adaptec's newest drivers with F6 doesn't change anything. So it seems like the SCSI setup is OK to me, but I can't figure out what else I could be missing here. edit: Forgot... the drive passes Seagate extended test, too - so the drive seems to be okay physically #1 cleverhandle, Nov 29, 2002 TEEZLE Platinum Member Joined: Mar 14, 2000 Messages: 2,536 Likes Received: 0 Is your system overclocked any. If it is, put it back to default speed and install. I was getting that same error with my system before (1500T laptop), what I did was when you need to press F6 for the SCSI card during setup, press the F5 key as well. When the screen that comes up, select ACPI pc. Hope this helps. #2 TEEZLE, Nov 29, 2002 cleverhandle Diamond Member Joined: Dec 17, 2001 Messages: 3,555 Likes Received: 0 Hmm... it's not exactly overclocked. The processor is unlocked,

I am trying to reformat my computer because there was some sort of virus that got into my comp. It always says "NTLDR is missing, press CTRL ALT DEL to restart"... So I just decided to re-install XP to solve the problem. But it seems that the problem got worse. During setup , it always say "The file setup could not copy msi.dll " and all the .dll files as well.. What could be the problem on my formatting? Am I missing any steps? An advice would be really appreciated. BTW, here's my PC specs: Intel D101GGC - MOBO P4 506 2.66 ghz - Processor 200 gb Maxtor Hard drive 2gb Corsair RAM EVGA 6500 256 MB Video card Windows XP home edition - OS Thank you.
