Monday, October 11, 2004 5:28 PM (permalink) 0 Someone help! This error is driving me mad. The only info that I can find says it was fixed in SMS 2.0. I am using SMS 2003 and can find nothing on it. The Error reads as such: Error Milestone CEN 10/11/2004 2:36:33 PM STLCORPSMS01 SMS_LAN_SENDER 3530 The sender cannot connect to remote site " S12" over the LAN. The operating system reported error 53: The network path was not found. As of now, eventually almost everything seems to get processed, but not until after many retries. Any help would be greatly appreciated! #1 brogers Total Posts : 8292 Scores: 292 Reward points : 0 Joined: 6/5/2001Location: Jacksonville, Florida Status: offline RE: Error 53 is killing me!!! AN error 53 is telling you the machine is not responding are you running Black Ice on this server or some kind of firewall product that will block the ports?. If you are using a Firewall there is a white paper on the ports that must be opened for SMS to communicate to its servers and workstations. #3 amiller801 Total Posts : 4 Scores: 0 Reward points : 0 Joined: 10/1/2004Location: St. Louis, Missouri Status: offline RE: RE: Error 53 is killing me!!! Tuesday, October 12, 2004 11:29 AM (permalink) 0 ping -t gets no timeouts. Any port blocking would prevent all communication on said ports. This problem happens on multiple servers, and more importantly it eventually does make contact and passes all info. I have however now seen PC' s that are hitting retry limits on recieving the " client push installation" . #5 brogers Total Posts : 8292 Scores: 292 Reward points : 0 Join
SP2 R2 and server 2008 as well. Recently I have noticed that while the secondary is able to communicate upstream the primary is not able to communicate downstream. :o( The primary is a member of SMS_SiteToSiteConnection_

some reason they are not communicating to each other. I made sure i can get to the folder via the secondary server... netbios works fine... apparently its completely open between the firewall.. note the secondary is on another domain, but connected via a trust... i know i'm not suppose to do this either but i gave that sms_site the everyone permission and it still fails...... any ideas to why this might be happening..... plus the servers are in each others local admin groups and sitetisite connect group.... *help*!!! Secondary site install not working Hi, I have SMS2003 SP1 and having been using a primary site for about 6 months. I went to installl a secondary site today for our LA office, but it seems to be stuck. I checked the sender.log and am getting this error "Cannot install SMS_BOOTSTRAP service on server [servername], Win32 Error = 1057." Is there anyway to cancel the setup of this secondary site? From reading other posts, I'm not sure I need a secondary site anyways. We have 30 people in that other office that our primary site sees without a problem. There were only 2 reasons I was setting up the 2nd site. 1) was that when I try to push out an application, it always freezes the machines out there (I think it is timing out); and 2) to have them in separate collections so they are not mixed in with our office pcs. Does anyone have any suggestions on the above? Thanks! 3. Client Push install not work
