The upload failed with some error about incorrect version (Even though I followed the instructions in this post to the letter). However, I couldn't load the web interface after that! I could still ping the WAP but the web interface would never load. I thought I had bricked my router and tried (unsuccessfully) to reset & repair it using the wiki instructions. But I came back to it a week later and was able to connect! The only difference was that I was using a different laptop this time. Hmm... The thing was, when I connected to the web interface, DD-WRT DID actually install, despite the error message. The only issue was the incorrect MAC address, which I cloned to the one on the bottom of the WAP (I cloned WAN and Wireless to the same one, hopefully that doesn't make a difference). After doing this, I lost ability to open the web interface again. Then it hit me: The reason I couldn't connect (BOTH times) was that the MAC address got changed (first from factory to DD-WRT default, then back to factory). Windows (XP) was trying to connect via HTTP to that IP via the associated MAC address, which was no longer valid, and it timed out. Pings still worked fine. I checked the arp table (from a command prompt: arp -a) and sure enough, the MAC address for the WAP IP was the wrong one. So I just cleared the arp table cache in XP. From a command line, type: netsh interface ip delete arpcache Worked like a charm! XP added the new, changed MAC address to the arp table and HTTP traffic (web interface) works just dandy again. HTH someone in the future... Jesse Thank you for the information....I linked to this post in the wiki. redhawk_________________I currently test dd-wrt on Asus, Buffalo, Linksys, and Netgear. Too many

We downloaded the file error during from the Linksys and unzipped it, but we cannot find a self-extracting file to run to perform the upgrade. We upgraded our WRTP54G with no problem. Any suggestions appreciated! · actions · 2006-May-16 12:11 pm · HowardP6join:2001-03-31Port Jefferson, NY HowardP6 Member 2006-May-16 6:04 pm There is no exe file to perform the firmware error during upgrade upgrade. You have to do the firmware upgrade from the web utility by selecting help selection and clicking the firmware upgrade control button. You then have to browse to the folder the firmware is in and then select it and clicking the upgrade control button.Only do a firmware upgrade froma a wired connection and only after reseting the WAP54G to factory defaults. Do another reset to factory defaults after the firmware upgrade. · actions · 2006-May-16 6:04 pm · wc4fsu1join:2006-05-16Tallahassee, FL wc4fsu1 Member 2006-May-17 2:00 pm Thanks for the quick reply. We tried that....the firmware download from the Linksys website provides a zip file named LinksysWAP54g_3[1].04,2.zip, which extracts into 2 files, one with a .trx extension, and one with a .txt extension. Then we went into the Help tab on the web-based utility, browsed to the zip folder, clicked upgrade, and got an error message stating "Error during upgrade". We are on a wired connection. When I get home thi

I read the Peacock document and tried installing dd-wrt.v24-13491_VINT_micro.bin firmware and it starts reading the file and then says "Error during upgrade". I'm following the instructions on the wiki page http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WAP54G but the VINT-micro link on that page is a broken link. Am I using th wrong build? I used the database version but I realize that version may be wrong. ADVthanksANCE. Bricked it. I updated using Chrome rather than IE and that was probably a fatal mistake. No biggie. Really old hardware. All I did was correct the initial part of the address in the link. I didn't change the build number._________________I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.
