database connection [Resolved] Error establishing a database connection necalli @necalli 7 months ago I'm using Instant WordPress 4.5 to develop my site. All was going well until late last night, I was editing some page content, I refreshed to see the changes and I was shown the original theme, not my edited child theme. Refreshed a couple of times to see if that would fix it, no change and then it crashed and I was confronted with "Error establishing a database connection" message. It was late, I figured I would leave it and maybe tomorrow it would sort itself out. Back today, same problem. I can't even get to the admin/password screen, I get this error message immediately (using Chrome). I have been searching high and low for a solution. I have even installed another instance of Instant WordPress in a different location, but that doesn't even work! In IE, I do get as far as the admin/password screen, but beyond that I am confronted with: "The website cannot display the page HTTP 500 Most likely causes: •The website is under maintenance. •The website has a programming error." Can anyone help me or shed some light on this? I am at a complete loss :(. I wonder if this is because I put my own icon in some Magee shortcode. If I could only find the altered theme html I might be able to do something :(. If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Sixteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue. If you don't have access to your admin panel, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account's control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of yo
