Symptom An exception is thrown while trying to open Column Analysis, Key Analysis, Data Quality or any other operation that reads data from the IADB and displays the data on the InfoSphere Information Analyzer client user interface (UI). This issue is specific to the situation when the IADB is on a different machine from the server machine, and a user is trying to perform any one of the previously mentioned operations from a client that is on yet another machine. In other words, a three-tier hardware topology is involved. Cause The InfoSphere Information Analyzer Client UI initiates a request through the server machine (services layer) to fetch and display data from the IADB. This requires a query to execute on the IADB so that the results are returned through the services layer to the UI. However, the name resolution of the IADB machine does not happen on these requests, and hence a connection cannot be established with the database machine on which the IADB is hosted. This results in an error on the services side, which is displayed as a Service Invocation failure exception on the InfoSphere Information Analyzer Client. Environment It is hardware topology dependent, where the Client, Server, and the IADB reside on different machines, meaning a three-tier hardware topology. Diagnosing the problem When a runtime exception is observed while performing any of the previously mentioned actions, the following message would be logged in the IASServer.log. ColumnAnalysisLocalClientImpl.java:147 Host: XYZ DataBase: iadb PortNo: 1521 2010-07-08 05:05:20,590 Debug [IBM-IA-SERVER] [] ColumnAnalysisLocalClientImpl.java:148 Url: jdbc:ibm:oracle://xyz:1521;SID=iadb Username: iadb 2010-07-08 05:05:23,137 Error [IBM-IA-SERVER] [] An error occurred while creating the service [IBM][Oracle JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket.
