When installing, a prompt displays to specify whether or not the software is being installed http://www.nntp.perl.org/group/perl.dbi.users/2006/05/msg29406.html with the Oracle user. If answered yes, a prompt to specify the Oracle variables will follow. If answered no, the above fields will result without the needed information and connection to the database will not be possible. To resolve this issue, follow the steps below.1. Locate the following file within the root of the CommerceTrends Reporting Server or Reporting Center-Enterprise installation https://kb.webtrends.com/articles/Problem/Error-Failed-to-load-function-OCIInitialize-1365448054002 directory: wtengine.server2. Type the following at the command line, then hit Enter:cat wtengine.server | more3. Within the file, locate the following fields: USEORACLE=0USER_DEF_ORACLE_HOME=USER_DEF_LD_LIBRARY_PATH=4. Change these fields to read as follows: USEORACLE=1USER_DEF_ORACLE_HOME= /opt/local/webtrends/oraclient/8.1.7USER_DEF_LD_LIBRARY_PATH= /opt/local/webtrends/oraclient/8.1.7/libNote: The above path and version will vary depending upon the user's installation of Oracle. A different version and/or path may be required.5. Stop and restart the reporting server engine for these changes to take effect. TroubleshootingAnother indirectly related cause for this error message would be if Net8 is not configured properly. Note: Net8 replaces sqlnet. It is the communication layer that the server and client use to communicate to each other via a network. Pipes is yet another communication method, but usually used locally.1. Log in as the Oracle user on the database server.2. Ensure the ORACLE_SID is set to the instance name.3. Try logging in using pipes locally. At the prompt, type the following command, then hit Enter:sqlplus [user]/[pass]4. If the user is able to connect this means that the database is up and running and the user can connect using pipes.5. Try logging in using

The error is: vuser_init.c(25): Error: lrdo_initialize_db: "OCIInitialize" return-code=100314904, error-code is unavailable. The message text is unavailable vuser_init.c(25): OCIErrorGet return-code=-2, recordno=2 vuser_init.c(25): lrd_initialize_db: ERROR, return-code=LRDE2009 N.B. "lrdo_initialize_db" (with an "o") may be a typo in the error message as the function is actually lrd_initialize_db. Then again, it may be an internal private function. Who knows? I've ran the same script in VuGen (in LR v11.50) and both VuGen and Controller in LR v9.10 and do not get this error. The code pertaining to the error is to do with setting up the Oracle connection and is as follows (apologies if this seems archain [but that's exactly what it is]): // Connect to Oracle server lrd_init(&InitInfo, DBTypeVersion); lrd_initialize_db(LRD_DBTYPE_ORACLE, 2, 0); //Error occurs on this line... lrd_env_init(LRD_DBTYPE_ORACLE, &OraEnv1, 0, 0); My LR v11.50 set up is: Win7 on a VM (32bit), using an Oracle 11.2.0.3 server (remote) and Oracle instantclient 11.2.0.3 to provide the client libraries. My LR v9.10 (which works) is running
