From My Forums Answered by: GPP query DllName registry entry? event id 1014 Windows Server > Group Policy Question 0 Sign in to vote So I finally bit the bullet, and migrated from PolicyMaker to GPP CSE's. I had to manually migrate all my polcies, and that sucked. I tried to hold off for a migration tool, but could not wait any longer. Anyway. I have everything working except for I get these few errors in reguards to our Power Schema GPO. I have not been able issolate what is causing the issue.Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: UserenvEvent Category: NoneEvent ID: 1041Date: 1/21/2009Time: 3:20:11 PMUser: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEMComputer: TESTBEDDescription:Windows cannot query DllName registry entry for {FFC64763-70D2-45BC-8DEE-7ACAF1BA7F89} and it will not be loaded. Wednesday, January 21, 2009 11:39 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Well I figured it out finally. Turns out the PolicyMaker CSE's were not all removed by the GPP CSE patch. I found several in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\GPExtensions that were for PolicyMaker. Fix was really easy just create a GPP GPO that deletes the old keys. These are the ones I found causing errors so far. After they are removed the errors stop. I also checked to make sure they were not part of the GPP CSE's by installing the CSE patch on a clean box, and checking to see if they were there. They were not so I am sure its safe to remove them. There might also be some in the HKCU hive also, but those don't seem to cause the Event ID Error.{F0DB2806-FD46-45B7-81BD-AA3744B32765}{F17E8B5B-78F2-49A6-8933-7B767EDA5B41}{F27A6DA8-D22B-4179-A042-3D715F9E75B5}{F581DAE7-8064-444A-AEB3-1875662A61CE}{F648C781-42C9-4ED4-BB

I've not searched exhaustively but it appears the addresses are only {CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D} and {7B849a69-220F-451E-B3FE-2CB811AF94AE}. Microsoft's site is singularly unhelpful: "There is no additional information about this issue in the Error and Event Log Messages or Knowledge Base databases at this time. You can use the links in the Support area to determine whether any additional information might be available elsewhere." I found a few threads that indicating (in|unin)stalling IE8 is at fault and searching for and deleting the key within {} braces is a cure. Having once too often been victim of self-inflicted cargo-cult sys-admin I prefer to not go blindly removing registry entries. Before I do that is there anyone here have better advice or insight as to the real cause?
