You can run EXBPAas well before and after you change to see if it detects any overlap. The 9871 is logged when the maintenance window is over for a database but a transaction is still being processed. This transaction must complete, we just won’t stop it because the schedule window has ended, and that is when the 9871 is thrown. The Event has been introduced Exchange 2007 SP1. We can extend the maintenance window to avoid the event id, but it just depends what we are doing when the schedule window ends, so we could still hit the 9871 event. The event has nothing to do with scheduling online maintenance (OLM) with other databases. The 9871 is thrown when the schedule window for OLM has ended for a database but a transaction is still being processed. This transaction must complete, we just wont stop it because the schedule window has ended, and that is when the 9871 is thrown. This has always happened, for some reason theyadded an event with Exchange 2007 SP1 to log it. There isnt too much that can be done, you may try to lengthen the schedule window, give it two hours. But it just depends what we are doing when the schedule window ends, so we could still hit the 9871 event. For example, if you are ru
backup every night at 11 pm., In the mean while, I had scheduled the online maintenance http://www.itexperience.net/2008/10/21/event-9871-there-is-an-online-maintenance-overlap-for-database-x/ in Exchange 2007 daily from 0am to 7am. The following error occured every day in my event viewer Event Type: Warning Event Source: MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store Event Category: Background Cleanup Event ID: 9871 Date: 10/20/2008 Time: 7:00:00 AM User: N/A Computer: %server name% Description: There is an online maintenance overlap for database "maildb1". Please revise the online maintenance schedule. For more information, see Help error id and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. It seemed that the online maintenance schedule was overlapping TSM every night, which resulted in event 9871. TSM needed 1:15h to complete the backup. After rescheduling the online maintenance to 1am to 7am, the error disappeared.
