command prompt to check the IP address on a Windows 2000 computer, it doesn’t display any IP. If you run https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc962703.aspx the ipconfig /renew command to renew the computer IP address, you may receive the following error message: “No adapters bound to TCP/IP are enabled for DHCP”. Resolution: 1. Make sure you install the NIC correctly. http://www.chicagotech.net/tcpipissues/noadapterbound.htm If the NIC doesn't list in the Device manager, you may need to re-install it. 2. Re-install the network adaptor driver 1) Install the latest service pack for Windows 2000. 2) Remove the network adaptor driver from your computer. 3) Re-install the network adaptor driver. 2. Upgrade the latest driver for NIC. 3. If above two don’t work, it may be the hardware issue. Try another slot or another NIC. Advertisement Peter Hartgerink Thread Starter Joined: Nov 4, 2006 Messages: 2 Hi, I am trying to get my son's Win2K laptop to connect to the internet via our home wireless network. I have already successfully done this with a WinXP laptop so I know the wireless network works. The wireless card on the Win2K laptop seems to be working correctly ; it is picking up signals from the wireless network. The TCP/IP properties are set to obtain an IP address automatically. I have run WinSockFix and this has had no impact. When I try to run ipconfig /release I get the following message : Error : No adapters bound to TCP/IP are enabled for DHCP. When I run ipconfig /all I get the following : Host Name ........................ : joe Primary DNS Suffix ......... : laptop Node Type ..........................: Broadcast IP Routing Enabled ...............: No WINS Proxy Enabled .............: No Any ideas ? The only thing I can think of is that as well as the WiFi card the laptop also has an ethernet card installed, but I can't think why that should cause a problem - I've worked with other machines that had both a wireless card and an ethernet card and they both worked fine. Peter Hartgerink, Nov 5, 2006 #3 cgesicki Joined: Feb 10, 2006 Messages: 968 Is there another slot on the laptop u can try? Or maybe swap the card from the XP machine temporarily to rule out a possible bad NIC. I would also try the ping loopback command to make sure its not the tcp/ip stack thats bad as well. cges
