Posted on 2006-03-01 MS Word 2 Verified Solutions 8 Comments 6,931 Views Last Modified: 2008-01-09 Hello Everyone, I have a Word document and I want to change/update a few error no specific lines in this document (e.g. Name, Address, Phone Number, etc) from values suplied by a VBA form I have created in this document. I am attempting to implement this using Word DocVariables by creating and inserting a DocVariable at specific locations in this document and using the VBA code similar to the following to update these fields: ActiveDocument.Variables("AddressLine1") = error no document "1201 Main St" ActiveDocument.Fields.Update Code similar to the above was working fine. I then added a few additional DocVariables to the document. When I then went to update these new variables thru code I got the message "Error! No document variable supplied" appearing at all of the DocVariable locations. I deleted these additional DocVariables and tried updating my original DocVariables but I continue to get the "No document variable supplied" error appearing at each DocVariable location. I am new to working with the Word Document Objects and I guess I am missing something. What is the best way of implementing of changing/updating DocVariables or Bookmarks using Word and VBA. Any suggestions? Any Word VBA code examples? 0 Question by:ircpamanager Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 76 Active today Best Solution byGrahamSkan Here is some sample code to deal with document variables. No document variable supplied Hi All, I have created a button in access form that exports certain details from the form to a word template. But when exporting textfields that has no values (on access form) displays an error: Error! No document variable supplied. Here is my code to resolve this issue but it's not working. With doc ..variables("Name").Value = Nz((Name.Value), "") ..variables("Address").Value = Nz(Address.Value, "") ..variables("City").Value = !Nz(Me.City.Value, "") ..Fields.Update End With Thanks in advance Sam View Public Profile View message headers Find all posts by Sam Find all threads started by Sam Ads #2 October 23rd 09, 01:19 PM posted to microsoft.public.word.mailmerge.fields Peter Jamieson external usenet poster Posts: 4,583 HELP: Error! No document variable supplied Generally speaking, you are better off setting document variable values to " " rather than "", because "" deletes the variable object. If you are using DOCVARIABLE fields to insert the values and you always want to avoid inserting a single space you can - in theory - use { IF "{ DOCVARIABLE myvar }" " " "{ DOCVARIABLE myvar }" } or if you prefer to reduce the number of quotes you can probably get away with { IF { DOCVARIABLE myvar } " " { DOCVARIABLE myvar } } There are oddities in Word's handling of docvariable fields, and they are not apparent at first because when the document variable collection is empty, a field like { DOCVARIABLE myvar } will display nothing, whereas if the document variable myvar does not exist, but there is at least one other document variable in the collection, the same field will display "Error! No document variable supplied." (In fact I think it may even be slightly mo
