Guest I've created a template with several user forms and numerous docvariable fields in the document corresponding to text boxes on the user forms. When I create a new document based on this template, the "Error! No document variable supplied." message appears as soon as the document is created (before any data is entered into the user forms). How do I prevent this error message from appearing in every Docvariable field in the document before the user forms are completed? dickens1228, Apr 2, 2009 #1 Advertisements Doug Robbins - Word MVP on news.microsoft.com Guest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIqJMwxBig8 Open the template and run a macro containing the following code and then save and close the template Dim i As Long With ActiveDocument For i = 1 To .Variables.Count .Variables(i).Value = " " Next i End With -- Hope this helps. When I place my cursor over the "i" in the macro, it says "i = 4" which I think means it is not counting my DOCVARIABLE fields (I think it's only counting the USERNAME, USERADDRESS, USERINITIALS and CREATEDATE fields because they are the only other fields in the document besides the DOCVARIABLE fields). Additionally, when I place the cursor over ".Variables.Count" in the macro, it says, ".Variables.Count =

Using a record set to isolate the data from and access table. Address1 = Nz(![Address1]) Address2 = Nz(![Address2]) error no document Address3 = Nz(![Address3]) Address4 = Nz(![Address4]) Address5 = Nz(![Address5]) Address6 = Nz(![Address6]) then Set docvar = WordDoc.Variables docvar.Item("Address1").Value = Address1 docvar.Item("Address2").Value = Address2 docvar.Item("Address3").Value = Address3 docvar.Item("Address4").Value = Address4 docvar.Item("Address5").Value = Address5 docvar.Item("Address6").Value = Address6 problem lies if any of the fields has no information i get error - no document variable supplied showing on the document. Thought I'd cleared it with the Nz function. How do I get a round the problem of a docvariable having the possibility of no information as the feild in access has no information. Say no information for address feilds 5 and 6. -- Regards Bill justagrunt View Public Profile View message headers Find all posts by justagrunt Find all threads started by justagrunt Ads #2 February 21st 07, 04:52 AM posted to microsoft.public.word.mailmerge.fields Doug Robbins - Word MVP external usenet poster Posts: 8,832 docvariable when empty gives error - how to stop error text in doc The Access built-in Nz() function provides for two arguements. I am attempting to implement this using Word DocVariables by creating and inserting a DocVariable at specific locations in this document and using the VBA code similar to the following to update these fields: ActiveDocument.Variables("AddressLine1") = "1201 Main St" ActiveDocument.Fields.Update Code similar to the above was working fine. I then added a few additional DocVariables to the document. When I then went to update these new variables thru code I got the message "Error! No document variable supplied" appearing at all of the DocVariable locations. I deleted these additional DocVariables and tried updating my original DocVariables but I continue to get the "No document variable supplied" error appearing at each DocVariable location. I am new to working with the Word Document Objects and I guess I am missing something. What is the best way of implementing of changing/updating DocVariables or Bookmarks using W
