Normally this happens when there's some error in the BI server or in the presentation server. So restarted both the servers. BI server came up nicely. But not the presentation server. It fired following error; -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Error outside of Presentation Catalog occurred. -------------------------- Type: Error Severity: 20 Time: Fri Sep 23 07:44:44 2011 File: project/sawserver/main.cpp Line: 338 Properties: ThreadID-3085960912 Location: saw.sawserver Error loading security account . -------------------------- Type: Information Severity: 30 Time: Fri Sep 23 08:39:21 2011 File: project/sawserver/sawserver.cpp Line: 386 Properties: ThreadID-3086145232 Location: saw.sawserver --------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the first sight, it looked like a catalog corruption. But server file system was OK http://bitechmusings.blogspot.com/2012/12/normal-0-false-false-false-en-us-x-none.html and there weren't any catalog restorations. Following the description in the error message; I guessed it' may be due to a file permission error. I executed "chown" over the whole catalog directory to change ownership to Oracle owner. It worked and presentation service was started. Share this:EmailPrintFacebookRedditTwitterLike this:Like Loading... It is allowing only root user to start. But my catalog directory will run under user called obiusr. If I chown again to obiusr (kind of refreshing the ownership of the directory) will it start with obiusr? Please help me out. Reply Sanjaya Balasuriya says: May 22, 2013 at 1:21 PM This is Sanjaya. Yes, it should work. If you stop all the BI services and change ownership of all BI files to "obiusr", you should be able to start BI services with "obiusr". Regards, Sanjaya Balasur
