Hello I'm running a dimension 3000 xp home edition, and I'm getting the blue screen with the 0x000000D3 stop error Thread Tools Search this Thread 05-01-2009, 01:59 AM #1 iwantouttahere Registered Member Join Date: May 2009 Posts: 8 OS: xp Hello I'm running a dimension 3000 xp home edition, and I'm getting the blue screen with the 0x000000D3 stop error code and sptd.sys. I have run the symptom tree and nothing seems to be wrong there. I have tried the reinstall disk but don't know much about the recovery to fix the problem. Thanks in advance. A majority of the problems are reported by users on Media http://superuser.com/questions/95367/sptd-sys-from-daemon-tools-kills-my-boot-win-xp-media-center-edition Center Edition (possibly some conflict with a driver that ships on the OS). The issue is that I can't boot up (including in safe mode) without loading that driver. If I go with the prompted safe mode, after loading AGP440.sys it prompts me to hit enter to load SPTD.sys, but whether I hit enter, escape, or wait, it still bluescreens and restarts. Theory Since I can't boot up in safe mode, I can't even get to a place where I can just uninstall the thing. I'm guessing my best bet is to dig out my xp CD and boot into the recovery console so that I can axe it. I'm probably going to eventually just start over with Ubuntu on this thing since it's really a productivity laptop, but at this point I'm in recovery mode because I'd like to get everything vital off of it before making any long-term decisions, so please don't give me grief about having a media center PC... I'm well aware of its problems. Question : Is there a way to remove this driver without booting from a recovery disc? If so, what is the process to do this? windows-media-center safe-mode share|improve this question asked Jan 13 '10 at 15:03 NateDSain

Whether I skip it or not, the system just reboots and tells me there was error windows an error loading windows and I have to pick if I want to load windows normally or in safe-mode. I had Alcohol 120 installed, but uninstalled that since a lot of people posted that they had similar problems with it. I also renamed the sptd file and still cound not boot in safe-mode. Any other suggestions? EDIT: The last thing that it loads is MUP.sys, so maybe it is hanging on that? Last error windows xp edited by Merton; 03-12-2007 at 01:13. So Alcohol uses the same driver as daemon, i didn't know that. First off make sure you really have uninstalled Alcohol and that the driver is NOT from Daemon tools (i.e. that you don't have Daemon tools installed). Then rename it back and reboot in normal mode. To remove the driver go to the device manager. Start > Run > type devmgmt.msc press ok > View > Show hidden devices > Non-plug and play drivers > find "sptd" > right click and Uninstall There is also a tool for removing the driver (last part), but this is from daemon tools forum, but if it's the same driver they use it should work i guess (it's a 3th party driver i do believe) http://www2.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/my-...ter-t6828.html ---- It may not SPTD.sys or mup.sys Using the /sos switch in the boot.ini may assist Quote: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833721 /sos The /sos switch displays the device driver names while t

Computer specs: 2.8Ghz P4, 1Gb pc3200 Kingston DDR HyperX, Inno3d GeForce 7800 GS 256mb (AGP version), 80Gb Maxtor Harddisk, 400W PSU. Runs Windows XP Proffesional. This afternoon when I got home and booted up my computer, it started up as normally, right until it got to the point where Windows starts to load, where it gave me a blue screen with the usual "if this is the first time you see this bla bla bla...", then finally a long error code and mentioning something about some SPTD.SYS file. It worked completely fine yesterday, only thing I might fear have damaged it was that instead of turning it off the "right" way, I just pressed and held the power button 'till it shut down. Stupid me. Now, I'm no genious on computers, so I really have no idea where to begin. I tried booting in safe mode, didn't work either. I can enter the BIOS, but everything in there looks normal (although I guess that some damaged file on my harddisk wouldn't have an effect on that?), so I haven't done anything besides this. I certainly don't hope I have to format my disk to make it work again, as I have alot of school-related documents and music which I would like to keep. :x NB: Forgive me for my English, it's my secondary language (I'm Danish). More about : sptd sys blue screen death casemods 18 April 2007 00:14:51 Quote:Hello all!
