To avoid such kind of issues, we can use archive commands to take backup of the switch configuration whenever we typed http://www.networking-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=44540&view=previous write memory command. i am using FTP server to archive the configuration. please type below commands ip ftp username XXXXXip ftp password XXXXarchivelog config logging enable notify syslog hidekeyspath ftp://servername/Network_Backups_FTP/Access_Switch/admin_10.0.10.0/10.0.10.1_Backup_configwrite-memorytime-period 10080 show archive The maximum archive configurations allowed is 10.The next archive file will be named ftp://servername/Network_Backups_FTP/Access_Switch/admin_10.0.10.0/10.0.10.1_Backup_config_-
most of my devices use SSH. I have read through some posts here but can only seem to find ones that work with Telnet. The only SSH one I can see is for Pix. The telnet one https://forums.vandyke.com/archive/index.php/t-6315.html works fine for me. http://forums.vandyke.com/showthread.php?t=370&highlight=Cisco+Config The Pix one does not. For some reason the username is being set to 'pix' and not the one one I set in the MHCL-Secure.txt file. However, this is trivial since I only have one pix to worry about. http://forums.vandyke.com/showthread.php?t=932 What I really need is a way to tftp the configs for: IOS using ssh ASA (ver 8.x) in multiple context mode, using ssh Nexus OS (ver 4.xx) using ssh For ASA in error - multiple context mode, each context has its own config. To copy them all I have to ssh to the ASA, issue 'changeto system' command, then issue 'copy flash:/XXXX.cfg tftp://172.23.20.26 where XXXX is the context name. We run version 6.5.0 build 380. Does anyone know how I can get this working for the IOS and ASA's at a minimum? Having the Nexus work too would be great but my biggest concerns are with IOS/ASA via SSH. Any help would be error - bad most appreciated. Thank you, -Steve miked10-22-2010, 08:55 AMHello Steve, Can you post the script you have so far, unless there is sensitive information in it? If there is sensitive information, please send the script to support@vandyke.com and include "forum 6315" in the subject. ryderse10-27-2010, 12:21 PMThanks Michael. The script I used for SSH to the Pix is the same one I gave the link for in my original post. However, I am least concerned about the PIX. I am mostly concerned about my FWSM's and ASA's. So, I started a new script for the FWSM by simply recording a script as I log in. Below is that script. When I run the script I get "Hostname lookup failed: host not found" The script does not have the IP address of the host I am attempting to connect too. Plus I notice that it also did not capture the username and the 1st password. It only seemed to capture the second password (enable password) which I removed from this script. I need this to work via SSH2 with either 3DES or AES-128 or 256. Once I can get the login to work, then I will work on adding the 'copy run tftp' command. That part should be easier to add. My goal here is to use SecureCRT to login and run the 'copy run tftp' command to backup all my FWSM, ASA, NexusOS and
