The problem probably comes from the fact that you downloaded Eclipse 32 bits and you’re trying to use it with a 64 bits Java installation or the opposite (Eclipse 64 bits with a 32 bits Java). Here's a complete print screen of the error: Solution #1 - The Easiest Solution - Download the Corresponding Eclipse Version to Your Java Version If you didn’t change anything in Eclipse configurations prior to starting it, the easiest solution is just to download the same “bits version” of Eclipse as the Java installed on your computer. First, find out what version of Java is installed on your computer. Find your Java Version on Windows 7 Click on the Start button In the Search programs and files box, enter cmd and press Enter In the terminal window, type java -version You should get something like this: If you see “64-bit” somewhere, well it means that you got Java 64 bits installed. You could just download Eclipse 64 bits and try again. Eclipse should start without the problem. If you don’t see any “64-bit”, then it means that you got the 32 bits version. Here’s a sample: If that's the case, just download Eclipse 32 bits and you should be good to go! Find your Java Version on Linux, Mac, Windows 8 and Other Systems On Linux Ubuntu for example, you can fire up the Terminal application and type java -version On a Mac, just go into the Launch Pad, type Terminal into the search field.
