Whenever I try the simplest of commands ex -h or -? I get an error and I have tried gpl ghostscript 9.10: unrecoverable error, exit code 1 them in all sorts of combinations. Files test.ps, gs_dbt_e.ps and gs_cidfm.ps all checked against a working system as being good. Regardless of what postscript file I try to convert, the "Current file position is 4623" remains exactly the same. The host is running Ubuntu 7.04. This is an irritation that's been getting at me for some time. I tend to view PDF and postscript files using the nice little viewer 'gv'. However, since installing Debian unstable a while back, gv has been giving me strange errors. Sometimes I've worked around this problem by using pdf2ps to convert the PDF to a postscript file, and then opening it, but it certainly doesn't always work.
