Description Jack Moffitt 2002-11-12 14:22:26 PST Originally reported by: jackiem@users.sourceforge.net Customer #? Files Flower.ai.ps and Illustrator10.ai.ps both fail with: %%[ Error: invalidaccess; OffendingCommand: put ]%% Test files available on casper. Comment 1 Alex Cherepanov 2002-11-17 10:16:57 PST Comment originally by alexcher@users.sourceforge.net Logged In: YES user_id=65750 The problem is caused by FontDirectory pointing gpl ghostscript 9.10: unrecoverable error, exit code 1 to a global directory in local mode. The mismatch between currentglobal and FontDirectory state seems to happen after unsuccessful attemt to find an Asian font. /definefont { % ..... dup .FontDirectory 4 -2 roll .growput % <- it fails in growput % ..... } odef Comment 2 Alex Cherepanov 2002-11-17 23:11:40 PST Comment originally by alexcher@users.sourceforge.net Logged In: YES user_id=65750 The bug is caused by non-standard /SubstituteFont procedure. The standard procedure takes a name and returns another name. GS takes many arguments and returns a font. This fix brings GS up to the standard while retaining some backward compatibility. The sample file replaces SubstituteFont with {pop /Courier} . This caused stack mix-up, triggered error recovery and caused other problems later on. Comment 3 Alex Cherepanov 2002-11-20 20:50:14 PST Comment originally by alexcher@users.sourceforge.net Logged In: YES user_id=65750 The patch is committed to the HEAD branch. Forum: Help Creator: rmix22 Created: 2012-10-16 Updated: 2013-03-21 rmix22 - 2012-10-16 I have just updated from GS version 8.63 to version 9.06 and am facing problems with some handcoded PS-files getting a "invalidfileaccess in -run-" error. I am using commands like (filename.PS) run at the top of my files and later something like /inFile (filename.txt) (r) file def inFile tempstr readline I suspect some kind of security "feature" to block file I/O. Is there anything I can do against this other then downgrading to version 8.63? Thanks RM If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link: rmix22 - 2012-10-16 Unable to edit my original post, so I might amend additional information that way: I am working with Win XP and Win7 and am using GS via hostview 5.0 If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link: rmix22 - 2012-11-08 OK, after some time I found it myself. So for the people which come to this page because they have a similar problem: Problem solved by adding the switch -P when invoking ghostscript. That way GS searches the current directory for files. This was default prior to version 9 and had been changed.
