As with any environment, issues come and go - however - there's been one which occurs randomly and cannot easily https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b5373b31-e594-4e1b-b6b9-ffecea05531e/application-fails-during-osd-task-sequence-with-exit-code-16389-requestcontent-from-cas-failed?forum=configmanagerosd be reproduced which I cannot figure out. Our current OSD task sequence is fairly detailed and supports all models we use. Depending on choices made from a frontend created via AutoIT, it can do many things including apply Win7 OS, provision Win 8 OS, install apps, etc. The steps which install the applications are straightforward and consists of a mix of Applications and Packages which reboots in between where required. The Issue The issue is that on some builds (1-2 per https://www.windows-noob.com/forums/topic/12052-random-issue-plaguing-osd-deployments-exit-code-16389/ week), the TS will stop and throw an error due to an application which failed to install. The exit code is always 16389 and the application affected is random. We can continue the TS but must manually install whichever application threw it after the TS finishes. When imaging systems, we can do 1 - 12 at a time which are all running the same TS on the same computer model, but only one have the issue. In the past when trying to run the TS on the same system again, it works without the issue. In the past 3 weeks, it's occurred when installing CCleaner and Cisco AnyConnect client - both Applications - but in the past has affected many different ones. I unfortunately don't have log files to attach at the moment, but will soon. I wanted to go ahead and post in case this rang a bell for anyone who may have a suggestion or have heard of it before. Any ideas? Thanks Guys! the advertisement statusit shows the follwing errors. The task sequence execution engine failed executing the action (Setup windows and ConfigMgr) in the group () http://www.networksteve.com/enterprise/topic.php/Client_installation_failed_in_OSD_TS_with_error_code_16389/?TopicId=43618&Posts=2 with the error code 16389. Not all computer have this http://vstepic.blogspot.com/2012/03/task-sequence-execution-engine-failed.html issue. But few failed with this error. Any idea about this error. October 12th, 2008 9:55am Same here... I'm already tired of searching and debugging, just don't know what else exit code should I check... Free Windows Admin Tool Kit Click here and download it now October 13th, 2008 10:22am I have found my error. The product key was wrong. Replaced it with the correct one and it worked fine. October 20th, 2008 2:28pm I am getting this error quite a bit with many different applications. Sometimes they install fine, but then when exit code 16389 I have multiple supplemental applications I see this. I have gotten it while installing Remedy and Quicktime to name a fwe. There is no documentation on this error. I am about to open a ticket with Microsoft since there appears to be no documentation online for what this error means. Free Windows Admin Tool Kit Click here and download it now November 25th, 2009 2:11pm Unfortunately my smsts.log is truncatedso I can't review this information. I'm going to have to try and grab the log in the middle of the task sequence to see what's actually being recorded there. Who's bright idea was it to set the logfile size as a read only variable with no option to change it?I think this problem is that the package
11170,11141) In my case I was unable to deploy operating system (Windows 7)using SCCM 2007 OSD onmachine (A)and following error eventswere logged : The task sequence execution engine failed executing the action (Apply Operating System) in the group (Install Operating System) with the error code 2148077575 The task sequence execution engine failed execution of a task sequence. The operating system reported error 2148077575: The hash value is not correct. The task sequence manager could not successfully complete execution of the task sequence. A failure exit code of 16389 was returned. The operating system reported error 2148077575: The hash value is not correct. After refreshing package's distribution point, operating system was still failing to install with same errors logged.Since there were no changes on SCCM, since last successful deployment of the same Windows 7 image, I tried to install the same image on other box. Windows 7 was successfully deployed using same task sequence on machine (B). So, there wassome problem with hardware on that machine (A). I've checked BIOS time settings and it was current. I've upgraded BIOS to latest version, and still no luck with OSD. Machine (A) had 2 memory modules (1GB each). After removing one memory module from slot, and leaving the machine with 1GB, task sequence completed successfully and Windows 7 was deployed. So, the problem with SCMM 2007 task sequenced OS deployment, was with faulty memory module on client machine (A).
