Each time I boot the computer, the following error message is displayed: CPU fan error. Press F for settings cpu fan error The CPU fan speed varies around 500 RPM and the temperature starts at 70°F (20°C) and goes up to 80°F (27°C). I know how to get into the bios. When I press DEL I get the CPU fan error message. Then I press F1 and I get into the BIOS where I set the boot priority. Then I press EXIT, SAVE CHANGES ans RESET. But it does not boot. I keep getting back to "PRESS DEL..., etc. What modification(s) should I make to disable or bypass this alert and is it safe to do so? cpu bios computer-building fan share|improve this question edited Feb 16 '13 at 13:23 asked Feb 16 '13 at 3:03 user196797 18114 1 Electrical tape works for the "check engine" light on my car. –Daniel R Hicks Feb 16 '13 at 14:03 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 6 down vote I was getting same error message on my Maximus V Gene with Cooler Master 212 Plus CPU Cooler. AMHello people! I did what I thought would be a very nice upgrade to my pc with these parts: 2x corsair vengeance 8gb mb p8z77-m i7 3770k cooler hyper 212 evo I put those together with the old ones: gpu ati 5770 PSU corsair 650w. (Before that, I had a p5kpl-1600 + quadcore q8200 + 4gb ram generic) I put it all together, without touching anything but the parts itself while I was installing them. When I first turn the pc on, parts worked, fan spinning, but I heard a beep noise, pause, then 5 bore beeps. Then the screen showed CPU FAN ERROR. Turned it all off, connected only 1 fanf rom the hyper to the mobo and tried again. This time the standby green light kept flashing and the pc wouldnt turn on. Tried to change the jumper position, as the manual said, remove the battery as well, but nothing. Pulled out some parts and pushed them in again, tried to connect both 4 pins ATX from the PSU instead of only one, as the mobo is ATX 8 pins. Nothing again. Got pissed, waited a while, did some more of that remove-plug back stuff and it turned back on. I hear the same beep sequence. And that's whats been happening ever since. Alternating between standby flashing and no power at all to beep sequence when I power it on. Smart fellas, whats going on? Please dont tell me the mobo is faulty! Maybe it's some configuration I forgot? Or my PSU wont handle this mobo? Or this mobo needs a 8 pin ATX from the PSU, instead the 2x 4pins I have now? Or RAM incompatibility? (I didnt see the 8gb corsair in the manual list) Or even CPU or cooler issue? Or BIOS needs to be updated? I tried to assemble on my own this machine cause so far everything had worked. Really, I have no idea what to do when these hardware failures occur! ANY help is very welcome! Robert1702-15-13, 06:30 AMRun the DRAM SPD onboard to check for DIMM errors. Also, AMI BIOS used to have the 5 beeps as a CPU or expansion card error. What does your manual say about the UEFI verion beep codes? Di
