If you are not the administrator of the server the article doesn't benefit you.I think the error message is a bit misleading, it probably just means some process on the server has locked your file exclusively. This can happen after failed uploads, since the FTP daemon/server uses sub-threads (or workers) to handle transfers. If now such a worker (which has the file's handle in use)

I am receiving a "450 internal error" in the logfile for a file transfer from winscp outside of my network. Here's the scenario; A file is requested, retrieved and sent in a queue. As soon as the request is made, the remote site sends a test file to test the connection & login https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=25348 info (this works fine). Then later when the file is retrieved on the other end, it is sent. Here's where I am having a problem. It appears that the file starts (I can see the connection in the Filezilla Server Interface) and it starts transferring (I can see kbs moving). Then at some point it just stops transmitting & receiving. The logfile shows the starting file starting but then no further entries. Here's an https://forums.techguy.org/threads/ftp-server-error-450-internal-error.616408/ example of the logfile entries: (000050) 8/28/2007 8:30:32AM - (not logged in) ( for Help Receive Real-Time Help Create a Freelance Project Hire for a Full Time Job Ways to Get Help Ask a Question Ask https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27104323/FTP-Command-causes-error-450-File-Unavailable.html for Help Receive Real-Time Help Create a Freelance Project Hire for https://kb.globalscape.com/KnowledgebaseArticle10142.aspx a Full Time Job Ways to Get Help Expand Search Submit Close Search Login Join Today Products BackProducts Gigs Live Careers Vendor Services Groups Website Testing Store Headlines Experts Exchange > Questions > FTP Command causes error 450 - File Unavailable Want ftp error to Advertise Here? I have a program that downloads a file from an FTP server, then moves the folder to a different location. The download works fine, 450 internal error but when I try and move the folder, I get a 450 error which I think is because there is something still using the folder/files. Please take a look at the following 2 sub's in my FTP wrapper: Public Sub GetFTPFile(ByVal strDirectory As String, ByVal strSaveFile As String) Dim target As New Uri(URI & "/" & strDirectory) Dim request As FtpWebRequest If IO.File.Exists(strSaveFile) Then IO.File.Delete(strSaveFile) Application.DoEvents() End If request = FtpWebRequest.Create(target) request.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.DownloadFile request.Credentials = New NetworkCredential(Login, Pass) request.UseBinary = False request.UsePassive = False request.KeepAlive = False Using response As System.Net.FtpWebResponse = request.GetResponse Using responseStream As IO.Stream = response.GetResponseStream 'loop to read & write to file Using fs As New IO.FileStream(strSaveFile, IO.FileMode.Create) Dim buffer(2047) As Byte Dim read As Integer = 0 Do read = responseStr » FTP Status and Error Codes FTP Status and Error Codes Last Year GlobalSCAPE 5 CuteFTP for Windows THE INFORMATION IN THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO: EFT Server all versions CuteFTP® all versions DISCUSSION During FTP sessions, servers send and receive various numbered codes to/from FTP clients. Some codes represent errors, most others simply communicate the status of the connection. Below are brief explanations for the most common status and error codes. When determining a course of action, review the entire log; some codes are informational only, others indicate that you have entered the wrong information, and others indicate what the information is that you need to provide before continuing. For troubleshooting CuteFTP connection problems, also refer to Troubleshooting CuteFTP Connection Problems. The table below is provided so that you have some idea whether you can solve the issue on your own (e.g., code 331=you need to provide a password) or you need to call your ISP for assistance (e.g., code 426=you are unable to connect to the remote server). These codes are used by most FTP servers/clients. NOTE: The information below is only offered as a courtesy to assist you in telling your Internet Service Provider what the error is so that they can help solve your issue. For example, if you get a code 426, the transfer was aborted and the connection closed. The solution to this error is to "try logging back in; contact your hosting provider to check if you need to increase your hosting account; try disabling the firewall on your PC to see if that solves the problem. If not, contact your hosting provider or ISP." The list below contains standard FTP codes. Numbers outside this list are proprietary to the Server or Client that you are using. Code Description Discussion 100 Series The requested action was initiated; expect another reply before proceeding with a new command. 110 Restart marker reply. The text is exact and not left to the particular implementation; it must read "MARK yyyy = mmmm" where yyyy is User-process data stream marker, and mmmm server's equivalent marker (note the spaces between markers and "="). 120 Service ready in nn minutes. FTP uses two ports: 21 for sending commands, and 20 for sending data. A status code of 150 indicates that the server is about to open a new connection on port 20 to send some data. 200 S
