When it hangs I can use the *disconnect* feature in the FTP client to stop the hang. I can reconnect after disconnecting, but when I do I see that it leaves a file named .pureftpd-upload.4477e068.15.2b2f.574df36 (actually, the trailing numbers may be changing, but the prefix before the numbers is always the same) Heres the error message I receive when I attempt to delete this ".pureftpd-upload. . ." file: Prohibited file name: .pureftpd-upload.4477e068.15.2b2f.574df36 Error -144: remote delete failed Turning the client's passive mode off does not seem to have any effect. Now, sometimes I actually can upload files with Transmit, but this is becoming a very annoying problem--especially when I'm trying to update index.html files. Any help or insight you share will be appreciated very much. You cau submit a trouble ticket and give us the path of the files to delete for you if you want as well. Reply With Q

During the movie playback, the AppleTV hung and I had to remove the power and reboot it. Now I am getting an error trying to delete the folder. The error I'm getting reads: "could not delete ".pureftpd-upload.4a851442.15.c9.3c0d73b3"." Then it reads, "Prohibited file name.(pureftpd....same as before). Error https://forums.dathorn.com/showthread.php?2285-FTP-upload-using-Transit-fails-frequently-leaving-an-undeletable-file -144: remote delete failed. I've successfully deleted all the files in the folder, but cannot delete the folder or subfolder. Any ideas? All rights look normal (Owner is 501 and rights are 755). How can I delete this folder? Thanks in advance. If so then type:
sudo rm -r folder_name
You will be asked for your password before it performs the task. Also be sure to be in the Movies folder first. Let me know if you need further help. I also have an iPhone 4 32GB, AppleTV 40GB with aTV Flash. I would like to delete the old system folder now, but I get multiple error messages when trying to do so. Is there any way to delete the folder from the server? A few questions: 1. Who do you host with? 2. Can you delete other files on the server? 3. Do you know how to tell who the owner of the files are? 4. What FTP program do you use? Some server set ups make deleting files owned by EE more problematic. It's better to go into EE's Utilities area and Delete Cached Files first, then delete the rest of EE (it's also a good idea when upgrading EE). It was indeed an issue with my host. I contacted them and they deleted the files for me. They still owe me an explanation though Thanks… Signature DesignBits ©2002–2016, EllisLab, Inc.Privacy Policy, Terms of Service built on ExpressionEnginereturn to the top twitter PixelBuzz eNews
