I've configured my router and firewall properly and ftptest.net indicates the router/firewall are indeed configured properly. I have a third-party FTP / Filesync program that uses the FileZilla server. From the FileZilla server log, here is a common sequence of FTP commands executed by the third-party software as seen in the FileZilla server log:> PASV> 227 Entering Passive Mode (173,14,235,227,197,139)> MLSD /R-Disk/folder1/folder2/TD Ameritrade/Distributions> 150 Connection accepted> 226 Transfer OKI see this sequence (above) executed successfully literally thousands of times. However, every now and then I see this:> PASV> 227 Entering Passive Mode (173,14,235,227,197,140)> 421 No-transfer-time exceeded. Closing control connection.> disconnected.Either the third-party software is failing to send the MLSD command, or somehow the Filezilla Server is dropping the MLSD command, or my router / firewall is randomly blocking the MLSD command. I truly don't know where the problem is at this point. Is there any known problem with router's and firewalls where a sequence of FTP command will get through OK hundreds and thousands of times but then a router or firewall will stop one out of a thousand? Is there any known issue with FileZilla server that would cause what I'm seeing?Regards,Jeff Top Profile Reply with quote boco Post subject: Re: FileZilla Server Error: "421 No-transfer-time exceeded"PostPosted: 2012-10-02 21:57 Offline Contributor Joined: 2006-05-01 03:28 Posts: 22710 Location: Germany Code:421 No-transfer-time exceeded. First of all, what is this error, and second, is there a way to prevent it? Enabling verbose mode with VERBOSE(ON) helps.ScriptFTP sometimes forwards the error that it receives from the https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=26734 FTP server. This seems to be the case. Unfortunately, some FTP servers report that kind of strange error messages... liked Script FTP? I'm sure you don't want me to post that. I can post the last few lines where the actual error occurs.I am using FileZilla FTP Server, and I've looked up the error on their site. The error apparently occurs when a file upload is not started within the "allotted time" I can set that setting in setup, but right now it's set to 10 minutes. I would think that within 10 minutes, it would have started an upload, but since I'm syncing a folder with tens of thousands of files, it's possible it would take that long or longer to finally get down to a file that needed to be uploaded if there were no changes. If that is the problem, I'm not sure what else to do except to set it to either 0 (unlimited), or 60 minutes or something. If you've got any other ideas, I welcome it.Thanks,Jesse Username VorlonShadow Posts 4 Joined 01 Sep 2009, 13:23 REPLY Options 3 posts Page 1 of 1 3 posts Return to “Troubleshooting” Display: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by: AuthorPost timeSubject Sort by: AscendingDescending Go Jump to: -All times are UTC- × ×

That means you cannot change permissions over FTP. If the hosting is Windows this is to be expected as CHMOD is *NIX-only. For Windows hosting you can skip these instructions. If your hosting is *NIX then you must either set permissions using a different channel (web panel?) or contact server support and have them changed. 0 0 10/31/12--06:33: Re: SFTP -> E

Hi, I tried to download many directories/files from a server, some of which I already have. I was not sure whether the last file downloaded ok, so I set it to the "resume all" mode. I guess this bug happens also with "skip all". After a while (within a few minutes) I've got a warning dialog with the text "Not connected!", with the title "ftp" and with an OK button. When I click the OK button the dialog appears again, so the program is stuck with this dialog and I need to kill it with the task manager to exit it. I even tried to turn on NOOP and PASV, turn off compression but it does not help. What I see from the log is: 220-FileZilla Server version 0.9.14a beta ... 211-Features: MDTM REST STREAM SIZE MODE Z MLST type*;size*;modify*; Before it dies: CWD *** 250 CWD successful. "**********************************************************" is current directory. Get directory PASV 227 Entering Passive Mode (***,**,***,**,5,6) LIST 150 Connection accepted Download Waiting for server... 226 Transfer OK OFFLINE I just tried with 7.0 beta 2 and the same problem happens with it, too. It would be *very nice* to automatically handle network problems (reconnect and resume if connection is lost) and provide a summary after everything is done (how many files up/downloaded, how many bytes), so that I would know if there was anything new at all in the server if I do a "skip all" kind of download to get any possible new files from the server. Otherwise TC is great! Closing control connection. Error: Disconnected from server Error: Could not retrieve directory listing Otherwise FileZilla seems to be a better FTP client, so I will probably change to that.
