The solution to this error is to "try logging back in; contact your hosting provider to check if you need to increase your hosting account; try disabling the firewall on your PC to see if that solves the problem. If not, contact your hosting provider or ISP." The list below contains standard FTP codes. Numbers outside this list are proprietary to the Server or Client that you are using. code will be issued by the FTP server on the IBM System i products if the file receiving the ftp command codes data from the PUT or MPUT command is too small to receive all of the data. You will see a message on your client within your FTP sessions similar to one https://kb.globalscape.com/KnowledgebaseArticle10142.aspx of the two following messages: 426 - Unable to close file CPE3101. or 426 - Cannot write to member xxxxxx in file yyyyyy in library zzzzzzz. For all file types, do the following: 1) Increase the size of the file on the server system. 2) Verify the user profile that creates or sends the file has the Maximum Storage parameter set to a http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1014567 large enough value. 3) Reduce the size of the file that is being sent to the server system. 4) If the file is a flat file, ensure the file is not already created on the target system. If the file is a save file, do the following: 1) Re-create the target save file. 2) This message also indicates that records are out of order in the save file. This often happens if the save file was transferred to a system that is not a System i. In this case, the save file must be re-created or retransferred from the source. 3) Examine the Maximum Storage Allowed parameter of the user profile that owns the save file on the target system. This storage determines how big the file can be, and it will cause this error. The problem is I don't really understand what causes it or how to rectify ftp error the situation. Product: WS_FTP Professional, WS_FTP Home Version: All Platform: All supported OS Solution Answer/Solution: See if you get the same error when you connect with the command line ftp client. If you do not get the error in the command line ftp client, then disable "Passive Mode" in the Connection properties window in WS_FTP. ftp error codes Go to a DOS prompt (Start->Programs->DOS Prompt) Connect to the site using the following syntax: ftp the.hostname.com (or IP_address.) Once successfully connected, you will be prompted for your username and password. Enter your username and password and then type "dir" to make sure that you successfully get a directory listing from the remote site. Once you get a directory listing, (and once you cd to the directory you want on the ftp server), to upload a file: put c:/local_path/filename (enter the exact path of the file that you want to upload here) to download a file from the ftp server: get filename (a file that you can see in the directory listing) If you get the same error in the command line ftp, then the problem is not in WS_FTP. There may be a local firewall blocking the connection or a problem with your ISP's network. Everyday in the early morning, a script on another server (S2) will run and initiate FTP transfer of pulling log files from S1 to S2. The FTP client we're using is built-in FTP.exe in Windows 2000 on S2. Recently we replaced S1 with a new server however we kept the IP address. There are multiple IP addresses on new S1. Ever since the new S1 was in place, the '426 Connection closed; transfer aborted.' errors haven been occuring randomly. The log indicated that the transfer started ok however the file cannot be transferred completely, as per log below: mget access*.log 200 Type set to A. 200 PORT command successful. 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for access02232010.log(205777167 bytes). 426 Connection closed; transfer aborted. ftp: 20454832 bytes received in 283.95Seconds 72.04Kbytes/sec. The firewall monitor suggested that the connection was setup in passive mode however I've been told that MS FTP.exe doesn't support passive mode. Though I can see the response of 'entering passive mode' from server when typing in 'quote pasv'. My network admin has told me to try the transfer in active mode however I don't know how to open active mode on client side. It's getting really frustrating. Wish someone here has the right knowledge/experience could shed me a light.
