This discussion is locked Tom Haggas Level 1 (24 points) Q: FTP Error -50 I am running an iMac through an AEBS, and I am trying to access a client's FTP on their PC. I have tried clicking the address they gave me AND using the Connect to Server option in the finder. No luck. Either way, I get a network progress bar for about five seconds and then an error that reads: Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred. (Error core -50)For the record, after trying this about 600 times today, I'm not sure I would consider it "unexpected," but what ya gonna do?Any ideas? 20" iMac 2.66/MacBook Pro 17", Mac OS X (10.5.6) Posted on Jun 17, 2009 7:54 PM I have this question too Close Q: FTP Error -50 All replies Helpful answers by dbsneddon, dbsneddon Jun 17, 2009 8:01 PM in response to Tom Haggas Level 4 (1,525 points) Jun 17, 2009 8:01 PM in response to Tom Haggas As a test, have you tried using ftp from a terminal session?Dave Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by nerowolfe, nerowolfe Jun 17, 2009 8:46 PM in response to Tom Haggas Level 6 (13,065 points) Jun 17, 2009 8:46 PM in response to Tom Haggas The built-in FTP in the Leopard GUI is essentially useless. As noted, use the one in terminal. If you prefer the GUI, try CyberDuckhttp://cyberduck.ch/ Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only. Most likely connected to the wrong port.Connection to server closed.Trying to reconnect in 5 secondsCould somebody tell me where is my problem? Thanks a lotS Top Profile Reply with quote botg Post subject: Re: Protocol error: Unknown protocol identifier (0x50 0x50 0x48)PostPosted: 2008-11-04 18:12 Offline Site Admin Joined: 2004-02-23 20:49 Posts: 28510 First name: Tim Last name: Kosse Direct the admin interface to the administration port, not the FTP port. If you want then you can restrict with the specified ip's.
