My manager is able to connect with no issues and it's been a long time since he set it up. We added a Windows account for me and I'm able to connect, but ftp error 550 permission denied unable to access folders. We set the permissions on the server so I have full control, but it still doesn't seem to want to allow me to access it. Any idea what we might be missing? We've tried restarting the FTP service, but that didn't seem to work either. FileZilla logs: Status: Retrieving directory listing... Did you ensure that account has permission to access the folders/files themselves (at the Windows file system level)? Can you create your own new folders successfully? Are you on the LAN with the FTP server? Is the server setup to be Passive or Active? –Ƭᴇcʜιᴇ007 Nov 26 '14 at 17:14 Yes, we set the permissions on the folders themselves. going well and I was able to connect to the server remotely as a standard user with no problem at all. When I came to upload a file however I started to get the following error: 550 http://superuser.com/questions/845357/iis-ftp-folder-access-issues-550 Access is denied The Solution After a bit of investigation I managed to solve the problem by following the steps below: 1. Open the ‘Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager'. You should be able to find this in your Start menu under ‘Administrative Tools'. 2. Once opened, right-click your FTP site and select ‘Edit Permissions…' from the menu: 3. Select the ‘Security' tab. 4. Click the ‘Users' group. You can see from the permissions http://biostall.com/iis-able-to-connect-via-ftp-but-cant-upload-files/ shown underneath that by default this group doesn't have ‘Write' permissions: 5. Click ‘Edit…' and select to allow the ‘Write' permission: 6. Click ‘OK' to save the changes. Once the above change has been performed you should now be able to successfully upload files without problem.
