good, bad or incomplete: Range Purpose 1xx Positive Preliminary reply The requested action is being initiated; expect another reply before proceeding with a new command. (The user-process sending another command before the completion reply would be in ftp error 421 service not available violation of protocol; but server-FTP processes should queue any commands that arrive while a preceding ftp error 426 command is in progress.) This type of reply can be used to indicate that the command was accepted and the user-process may ftp return codes mainframe now pay attention to the data connections, for implementations where simultaneous monitoring is difficult. The server-FTP process may send at most, one 1xx reply per command. 2xx Positive Completion reply The requested action has been successfully completed. sftp return codes A new request may be initiated. 3xx Positive Intermediate reply The command has been accepted, but the requested action is being held in abeyance, pending receipt of further information. The user should send another command specifying this information. This reply is used in command sequence groups. 4xx Transient Negative Completion reply The command was not accepted and the requested action did not take place, but the error condition is temporary and the action may

be requested again. The user should return to the beginning of the command sequence, if any. It is difficult to assign a meaning to "transient", particularly when two distinct sites (Server- and User-processes) have to agree on the interpretation. Each reply in the 4xx category might have a slightly different time value, but the intent is that the user-process is encouraged to try again. A rule of thumb in determining if a reply fits into the 4xx or the 5xx (Permanent Negative) category is that replies are 4xx if the commands can be repeated without any change in command form or in properties of the User or Server (e.g., the command is spelled the same with the same arguments used; the user does not change his file access or user name; the server does not put up a new implementation.) 5xx Permanent Negative Completion reply The command was not accepted and the requested action did not take place. The User-process is discouraged from repeating the exact request (in the same sequence). Even some "permanent" error conditions can be corrected, so the human user may want to direct his User-process to reinitiate the command sequence by direct action at some point in the future (e.g., after the spelling has been changed, or the user has altered his directory status.) 6xx Protected repl

direction for solving your FTP errors. For example, if you receive a ftp 530 331 error, you can look at the table below and see that a 331 error indicates that ftp command codes your username is authorized and now you need to provide a password. If you received a 530 error, your password was rejected (because you typed it wrong, your account https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_FTP_server_return_codes is expired, you provided the wrong username/password pair, etc.). Often you can type the description from the table below into your ISP/Web Hosting Provider's help pages to find an explanation for the error. 100 200 300 400 500 10000 Code Description 100 Series The requested action is being initiated, expect another reply before proceeding with a new http://help.globalscape.com/help/cuteftp8/Numbered_FTP_status_and_error_codes.htm command. 110 Restart marker reply. 120 Service ready in nn minutes. 125 Data Connection already open, transfer starting. 150 File status okay, about to open data connection. 200 Series The requested action has been successfully completed. 200 Command okay. 202 Command not implemented, superfluous at this site. 211 System status, or system help reply. 212 Directory status. 213 File status. 214 Help message. 215 NAME system type. response. 10.1 Informational 1xx This class of status code indicates a provisional response, consisting only of the Status-Line and optional headers, and is terminated by an empty line. There are no required headers for this class of status code. https://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec10.html Since HTTP/1.0 did not define any 1xx status codes, servers MUST NOT send a https://southrivertech.com/support/titanftp/v9/webhelp/ftp_return_codes.htm 1xx response to an HTTP/1.0 client except under experimental conditions. A client MUST be prepared to accept one or more 1xx status responses prior to a regular response, even if the client does not expect a 100 (Continue) status message. Unexpected 1xx status responses MAY be ignored by a user agent. Proxies MUST forward 1xx responses, unless the connection ftp error between the proxy and its client has been closed, or unless the proxy itself requested the generation of the 1xx response. (For example, if a proxy adds a "Expect: 100-continue" field when it forwards a request, then it need not forward the corresponding 100 (Continue) response(s).) 10.1.1 100 Continue The client SHOULD continue with its request. This interim response is used to inform the client that the initial part of the request has been ftp return codes received and has not yet been rejected by the server. The client SHOULD continue by sending the remainder of the request or, if the request has already been completed, ignore this response. The server MUST send a final response after the request has been completed. See section 8.2.3 for detailed discussion of the use and handling of this status code. 10.1.2 101 Switching Protocols The server understands and is willing to comply with the client's request, via the Upgrade message header field (section 14.42), for a change in the application protocol being used on this connection. The server will switch protocols to those defined by the response's Upgrade header field immediately after the empty line which terminates the 101 response. The protocol SHOULD be switched only when it is advantageous to do so. For example, switching to a newer version of HTTP is advantageous over older versions, and switching to a real-time, synchronous protocol might be advantageous when delivering resources that use such features. 10.2 Successful 2xx This class of status code indicates that the client's request was successfully received, understood, and accepted. 10.2.1 200 OK The request has succeeded. The information returned with the response is dependent on the method used in the request, for example: GET an entity corresponding to the requested resource is sent in the respons
