When trying to download files that are on the server, I got "The Server Returned Extended Information" error message. The file or files do reside on the server, but for some reason Internet Explorer outputs this message. I have a similar web configuration on a windows 2000 server and I don't experience any errors and I am able to download the file with know problem. Background info: Downloading from this particular web application happens by right clicking on a hyperlink, which points to the ftp location where the file is located, and simple doing a "save as target" menu option. 0 Question by:merdelafuente Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 41 Best Solution bystevenlewis thank you for the kind words James :-) I do think you're on to it, though. when you install the server, it defaults IE to high security, and this could be the source of the error. I have no doubt your problem is related to that. The error you experienced is a common error when downloading files. Try some or all of the following common solutions for addressing this problem: If you are logged into a LAN which dynamically assigns an IP address to your computer, you may be refused access to our ftp server. The ftp server is checking to ensure that the machine that is trying to log in is a legitimate machine by looking up its IP number. If the IP number cannot be found, the ftp server will refuse access. Use a dial-up account instead. If your identification information is blank,
