I am from Germany so I am sorry if my English isn't the best.My Problem:I tried to synchronizie my iPod with Itunes 8 on a Mac (newest version), yesterday. There was a problem while synchronizing and iTunes told me that the iPod has to be restored. Ok I tried to so ... But always while restoring iTunes stop working and I have to force iTunes to quit (I waited about half an hour) ... I did so a few times, tried to use another usb-port, restarted my macbook... But nothing could solve the problem. So today I read that I could use the harddriveutility(I hope thats the correct translation) from my mac to delete the harddrive and then restoring it with iTunes. I tried to do it once, then the Partition on the iPod was gone and said "Input/Output Error" (and something like "While deleting the Medium an error occured"). I tried to recover it with iTunes again and again iTunes just stops working (the progressbar(?) doesn't move - again I waited about half an hour)... Also when I try again to delete the iPod mini with the harddriveutility it shows the same "input/output error".Is there anything more I can do? I know my iPod is quite old now, but it worked fine till yesterday and never felt or something. Is it possible the Harddrive is broken? Are there opportunities to solve the problem in Windows (XP/Vista)?Thank you four your help.Kevin Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.6) Posted on Jan 28, 2009 3:44 PM I have this question too Close Q: Ipod Mini "Input/Output Error" while tryiing to delete files All replies Helpful answers by popal, popal Feb 18, 2009 9:56 AM in response to kevinm1990 Level 1 (0 points) Feb 18, 2009 9:56 AM in response to kevinm1990 i am having same problem with my third generation 60gig ipod photo, input/output error, and won't sync all the way. i tried disc utility in leopard to erase (write all zeros) and got input/output error, restored the ipod but it did not fix. i read to use disc utility with tiger os. tiger will not start on my macbook pro, but does on my powerbook titanium, i am erasing the ipod now but i fear there is actual hard drive damage and i am wasting time. The only way I can get either to recognize it, is to play a couple of songs then connect, otherwise I get a message saying if I want to "initialize, ignore or eject" . Then it shows up on my desktop and itunes opens up. When Itunes opens, it has to "verify" the ipod (which takes a couple of seconds) then it goes to the summary. From here I try to restore. Have you tried a different DVD? Did it work? Adv Reply May 29th, 2008 #3 didac View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Gee! These Aren't Roasted! The bad sectors will still be bad sectors, you'll still get garbage at times, but you can now convert the dvd to iPod. If you have Ubuntu, and wine installed, you can get the windows version at http://roadkil.net/download.php?File=unstopcp Adv Reply May 29th, 2008 #4 Commander_Bob View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Visit Homepage Gee!
