I have tried simply restarting the https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1623790 download, deleting the original files and retrying from the start, downloading files one at a time, switching to Azureus, running fsck, and even tried turning off my overclocking. This is happening with three separate torrents, and I am running out of ideas. So, anyone have any ideas? I'm using Transmission 2.04 on Ubuntu 10.10 with the 2.6.35-22-generic kernel. EDIT: I changed the download location to an external hard drive, and it seems to be working, so it looks like the problem was my internal hard drive, even though fsck didn't catch anything. I've been a fan of Transmission-Qt for quite some http://askubuntu.com/questions/74105/how-do-you-repair-an-input-output-error-in-an-ntfs-partition time! I am having a recent issue though, and was hoping for some help/guidance: Recently I purchased a Synology DiskStation and decided to utilize it for Transmission-Qt's download location, via UNC path ( \\Synology\New Movies ). Unfortunately, if input output I add a torrent file (especially via the web interface) and start it, within 5-15 MB of downloaded data it goes from ok to "Input/output error ( UNC path here)/.s1" What is interesting is this happens within a second of torrent folder creation on the Synology.. And all subfolder names are created simultaneously. What seems to be the issue.. is the fact that the first file, and I'm assuming it's Transmission-Qt's first attempt at writing a file, input output error is created in the correct folder structure, but as a folder, not a file. For instance, when looking at the torrent properties, I can see that there is a file named VIDEO.MKV, not a folder. But when looking at the Synology location for this file, it is displayed as VIDEO.MKV folder. I'm using v2.84 (14386) x64 on Windows 10 x64.. It works properly for local storage locations (C:\, D:\, etc).. Both the transmission-qt.exe and dbus-daemon.exe are being executed with the user account in Windows that has full rights to the Synology UNC path (same account name/creds on the Synology side). Transmission-Qt properly shows space available at the UNC path. I was attempting to find logs, if needed, but I do not know where they are stored in Windows. I've been through similar case threads to troubleshoot on the Transmission forum, but those appear to be related to drive failures as pointed out by user x190. If anyone has any idea on how to troubleshoot or rectify the write ability to the Synology, please let me know.. Any help is greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance! All works fine except that the main HD where I had all my files are now inaccessible. Here is the error message I get: Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 13: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Failed to read NTFS $Bitmap: Input/output error NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it's a SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot into Windows twice. The usage of the /f parameter is very important! If the device is a SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g. /dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). Please see the 'dmraid' documentation for more details Is it necessarily a hardware problem? If not, is there a way to repair the HD from Ubuntu? windows ntfs share|improve this question edited May 15 at 19:06 muru 69.1k12125176 asked Oct 31 '11 at 15:13 Calixte 68461528 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 17 down vote accepted chkdsk /R is a pretty important command when things get hairy with NTFS. Unfortunately I don't know of a Linux tool that comes close to covering everything it does. In short, to run it,
