At one point, I spent over an hour troubleshooting with Apple technical support over the phone. Nothing they could suggest was working. Recreating my library as per the instructions at the following url fixed the issue!http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451Thanks guys! Seems the file it tells you to drag to the trash has the playlists in it... Right now the sync issue is just annoying but not causing any other issues so I'd rather not lose the 100+ playlists I have to fix this... Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks,Matt Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only. It worked fine for a few days after the incident. But... 3 days back I plugged my iPod (160gb Classic) in to update it with some new songs. After a few songs were synced iTunes kept switching between "Syncing" and "Updating iPod", as shown below: http://i40.tinypic.com/kdwcv9.jpg This would go on for a few minutes until a message about the 13013 error pops up. I unplug the iPod and find no music in it, even though upon replugging My Computer's iPod drive shows the iPod containing files (the songs that were synced before the error started showing). Things I've tried to fix the problems (Unsuccessfully): - Update iPod software and iTunes to its latest version - Restore to factory setting (in both normal and Disk Mode) - Automatic fix file system error/Scan for and attempt to fix bad sector (in both normal and Disk Mode) - Completely format (FAT32) using the "guiformat: softwa

Drag iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml out of your iTunes folder. Start iTunes, hopefully it will start with an empty library. The Required File Is Locked" error while trying to sync your Apple iPod using iTunes as shown below the fix could be pretty simple. All the error means is that iTunes is unable to read/write to the database file inside your device, their could be several possible reasons for the error which might be recoverable depending on the cause of the error. There are two common reasons for this error, first being database corruption due to syncing error or physical media corruption and second being library getting locked out for writing due to read-only attribute. In most cases this error can be solved as follows: Open My Computer and navigate to your iPod disk, now Right-Click the iPod_Control folder and remove the read-only attribute if on. Now, Open My Computer, Right-click your iPod disk drive and click Properties. Goto Tools and click Check Now button from "Error-checking section". Check "Automatically fix file system error" and Click Start. Let the scan complete, eject your iPod and reconnect. If you still receive the error, try restoring your iPod from iTunes.
