This discussion is locked Matthew Sliva Level 1 (10 points) Q: Error 1335 iPod.cab is corrupt When trying to install iTunes 6, I get the following error:iTunes Error: Error 1335. The cabinet file 'iPod.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.Abort, Retry, IgnoreI've attempted to download this installer mulitple times. I even tried downloading it from a seperate NIC since I saw one guy had an nvidia firewall issue. I am attempting to install it from my desktop folder and I'm also on the administrator profile on this PC. I'm running WinXP SP2. No firewalls up.I've tried the Microsoft Cleanup utility, but itunes nor quicktime were listed. I've deleted all reg keys associated with apple. My system is totally void of all Apple related installations.I tried to install the iPod software seperately and succeeded. If I hit retry a few times, the progress bar goes all the way across before I have to hit ignore. I then get a white x with a red circle saying Internal Error 2350. The installation rolls back and another message comes up.Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation.Consult Windows installer help (msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.I'm at a loss. All those temp directories in the other posts don't get down to the solutions.First, I have a built in nvidia firewall on one of my nics. I switched nics and redownloaded the itunes installer. I then went to the properties of the installer. If you look at the comments of the installer, you may see something like this:Setup=iTunesSetup.exeSilent=2Path=.\%windir%\Downloaded Installations\{872653C6-5DDC-488B-B7C2-CF9E4D9335E5}Overwrite=2So, I went to my c:\windows\downloaded installations\ folder and deleted that folder that started with 872..Since I did that, the installer went through like nothing else.iTunes is now working and installing successfully. I hope this helps for anyone else. Microsoft suggest trying this: 1. Click Start, and then click Run. 2. In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK. 3. On the BOOT.INI https://forums.techguy.org/threads/error-1335-with-ipod-software.411810/ tab, click Advanced Options. 4. In the BOOT.INI Advanced Options dialog box, select the /MAXMEM= check box, and then change the setting to 256 (or lower if your computer has less RAM). 5. Click OK to close the BOOT.INI Advanced Options dialog box. 6. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Apply. 7. Click OK to close the System Configuration Utility dialog box. 8. If it is damaged or scratched in any way then your computer may not be able to read the files off the CD. Step 2 - Extract Compressed Installation Files The 1335 error shows when it cannot extract a “cabinet” file from an installation program. A cabinet (.cab) file is used by installation programs to compress a lot of files into a single, smaller file. If your PC shows the 1335 error, it’s typically a sign that the .cab file you are trying to use is either damaged, corrupt or unreadable by your software. If you manually extract this file, it should make the installation work properly again. Here’s what to do: Right-click on the folder and select Extract All. Follow the instructions. Once that has finished, double-click ‘Setup.exe’ in the folder that has the extracted files. Step 3 - Clean Out The Registry - Download thi
