I popped my old ipod open and it was the same thing. I fully reconnected the hard drive cable and plugged it in to iTunes and it was good to go! Yay. (this post is not about my morals, haha). Anyway, I took it hope plugged it in and heard a clicking noise, the ipod would not start. I found online that I should hit the ipod against my palm to fix it, which it did. I then plugged the ipod into my laptop (win xp). (Note: I have already checked the warranty on it, nothing) I got an error message saying the ipod was corrupt and needed to be restored. When I chose to restore it I got an error saying that it could not be restored (error 1437). I have tried several times, in different usb ports and nothing works. There is no "iPod" drive in my computer when I connect it to my laptop, all that reads is
