VS2012 / IIS7.5 up vote 3 down vote favorite 1 A strange behavior with my ASP.net mvc 4 application running under IIS7.5. Every time I rebuild the application, 2 applications appears on IIS filetree node of my project. The first one is fine. It is a application I have create. The second one is another that should not be present. I have renamed my application and I believe there is no more reference of the old name. The old name was Gedi. Today I was trying for the first time the publish tool from visual studio and I got this warning: Warning 1 C:\Users\Guilherme\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\gedaiapp\gedaiapp\Views\Operacao\opImportacaoConfig.cshtml: ASP.NET runtime error: '/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/Gedi' is not a valid IIS application. C:\Users\Guilherme\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\gedaiapp\gedaiapp\Views\Operacao\opImportacaoConfig.cshtml 1 1 gedaiapp I don't understand where this Gedi still exists. asp.net .net asp.net-mvc asp.net-mvc-4 visual-studio-2012 share|improve this question edited Jan 22 '13 at 12:12 Glauco Vinicius 1,6091533 asked Jan 22 '13 at 12:06 Guilherme Longo 94932355 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted Check the Web section of the project properties in Visual Studio. If you've got it set to use local IIS and this is still pointing at your old location, it's probably what's causing it to reappear each time you build. share|improve this answe

I've installed (and reinstalled) IIS Express and VS2010 SP1, and when working with an ASP.Net MVC 3 project all of my http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14458189/asp-net-runtime-error-path-is-not-a-valid-iis-application-vs2012-iis7-5 Razor views are producing this error at design time (code view): ASP.NET runtime error: '/IISExpress/7.5/LM/W3SVC/3/ROOT' is not a valid IIS application It's throwing up lots of other errors as well with I think stem from this one. I don't have full-fat IIS 7 installed any more (I removed it to see if that solved the issue - it didn't) and everything is ok when working with the VS Development Server. This is also the only application https://forums.iis.net/t/next/1195378 I have registered with IIS Express. I have gone into the web settings and configured the url as http://localhost:605, and created the Virtual Directory (several times, actually) which was reported as being created successfully. Running and debugging the code works as normal, but obviously authoring code is just unpleasant as I get no intellisense and lots of errors. This happens with all my views in the project. Can anyone help? I posted here as the signs at the timepointed towards it being an IIS Express issue. When I reinstalled IIS Express I was careful to remove all the configuration files too, but it didn't help. Anyway, as it turns out it was neither. Forfuture reference, I found that after comparing version nu

The default.master file includes the htm pages in the following way: (I have also tried using #include file="", but get same error) Based on another post, i have attempted to resolve this error by specifying the full IIS metabase path of the application in the aspnet_compiler command This generates an error regarding the IIS application. >aspnet_compiler -m /lm/w3svc/2/ROOT/univmain/search_app d:\searchfiles Utility to precompile an ASP.NET application Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. error ASPRUNTIME: '/lm/w3svc/2/ROOT/univmain/search_app' is not a valid IIS application. QUESTION: can someone help me run the correct metabase command? i used /lm/w3svc/2 because i thought it represented the 2nd website under IIS. However, i also tried /lm/w3svc/1, which gave the same error. or do you see another way to solve the original build error/
