3 Offline I just downloaded the one click installer for mac. I have been struggling to get postgis going and hoped you wcf is not activated might have a clean install. I believe I deleted all of the previous postgres db and sw, but I get this error: The existing data directory (catalog version: ) is not compatible with this server (catalog version:

You can choose another location for wcf 40 is not activated your data directory or delete the existing data directory. If you are getting this error, as soon as the installer starts and not after data directory selection screen. Then if possible clear out the ini entries for PostgreSQL in the file /etc/postgres-reg.ini or optionally you can delete this file if you have not installed any other components other than server. Hope this helps. -- Regards, Sachin Srivastava EnterpriseDB , the Enterprise Postgres company. 29 Sep 2009 08:33:09 Subject: Re:The existing data directory (catalog version: ) is not compatible wi Reinaldo_de Oliveira Castro New member Joined: 29 Sep 2009 08:31:32 Messages: 1 Offline This helped me! » Fri Aug 06, 2010 10:16 am Please see my post "Installing PostGreSQL 'Over Itself' from different OS", (https://www.pokertracker.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=29911) earlier in this sms_awebsvc_control_manager forum.Prior to switching over to my new OS on the other HD, I attempted to uninstall/reinstall PostGreSQL, and encountered a tale of woe .The PostGreSQL version I previously has was ver 8.3, which I successfully uninstalled, http://forums.enterprisedb.com/posts/list/1860.page from D:\Poker Stuff\PostGreSQL, following the instructions in the file PokerTracker3_Manual_Uninstall_Reinstall_PostgreSQL.pdfdownloaded from this site. I also moved the PostgreSQL 8.3 shortcuts to a temporary folder. I did not delete the D:\Poker Stuff\PostGreSQL folder, which still has 2 subfolders - bin & data - within it. The data folder contains a file "PG_VERSION" which, when opened in Notepad says "8.3" (no quotes) only. I will be happy to send screen dumps of the contents of https://www.pokertracker.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30090 any folder requested.Following the uninstall, I restarted Windows.I then attempted to install postgresql-8.4.4-1-windows.exeper instructions in "PokerTracker3_Manual_Uninstall_Reinstall_PostgreSQL8-4.pdf".At Installation Options, I named D:\Poker Stuff\PostGreSQL as the installation directory, and selected D:\Poker Stuff\PostGreSQL\data as the data directory.Ooops. I got an Error Message: "The existing data directory (catalog version: ) is not compatible with this server (catalog version 200904091) OK" (Screen dump available). So now I have no access to my data (but it is backed up to another HD), and I guess I'm not playing a lot of poker until we get this fixed. Please help, preferably with a detailed step-by-step approach, as I am utterly ignorant about PostgreSQL, and this kind of stuff scares me crapless.TIAJimmy JimmyM69 Posts: 140Joined: Tue Mar 04, 2008 8:22 am Top Re: Error - "The existing data directory is not compatible..." by kraada » Fri Aug 06, 2010 10:48 am Uninstall PostgreSQL 8.4.4. It will not work with the data directory you have. Install 8.3.11 as per the documentation on our documentation page. It is compatible with the data directory you have and should work just fine. kraada Moderator Posts: 54443Joined: Wed Mar 05, 2008 2:32 amLocation: NY Top Re: Error - "The existing data directory is not compatible..." by JimmyM69 » Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:37 am Thanx for your quick response, kra

Ok, you'd upgrade your RMAN Catalog to be ready to backup/recover Oracle Database 12.1.0.2 databases and you see this error:RMAN> upgrade catalog; error creating create_deleted_object_seq RMAN-00571: =========================================================== RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS =============== RMAN-00571: =========================================================== RMAN-06004: ORACLE error from recovery catalog database: ORA-00439: feature not enabled: Partitioning Now you start to wonder as your Catalog Database had been an Oracle Standard Edition (SE)database for quite a while - and of course an SE database does not have Partitioning on. And on the side the Oracle Partitioning Option is licensable option. First of all this new behavior gets introduced with Oracle Database 12.1.0.2. And as far as I know it is not documented in relation to the "upgrade catalog". The valid workaround leads to a new feature called Infrastructure Repository Database - which is always an EE database without the need for extra licensening as all feature will be used only by Oracle internal mechanisms.
