Join them; it only takes a minute: Sign up Entity framework error “Entity type is not mapped.” up vote 15 down vote favorite We are using Entity Framework in our project and I have an entity that I built in my model. I then have a function import that property is not mapped uses a stored procedure. The method created by the function import is supposed to return a collection of the custom entity I created. The problem is that I get an error when I build that says "The entity type 'someentity' is not mapped. What does this mean? Is it upset because the entity does not have an underlying data store? It doesn't need one, the function import returns instances of this entity and I have no need to update, edit, or insert entities of this type. The function import works great and returns a collection of my entity as desired, but this error is annoying. Though the error list lists it as a compile error, it does not actually stop the solution from compiling. Any help is appreciated. UPDATE If I open the EDMX in the XML editor and double click the error in the error list it highlights this chunk of XML in red: content you requested has been removed. Once of the concepts I am trying to duplicate (which is easy to do with typed datasets) is to load the main data (records) from the database and manually load the lookup tables in code. With my edm, I have mapped the main table to the database using the designer (Update Model From Database) and then manually added an Entity to store the lookup values and created an https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/10d5fd30-3143-4940-94d9-4011f6851a9c/error-11007-entity-type-table-name-is-not-mapped?forum=adodotnetentityframework association between the two. However, when I try and compile (or Validate the edm) I get the subject error with the non-mapped entity. Is what I am trying to do even possible with the EDM, or do all the entities have to be mapped to a physical table in the database?Doug. If there are foreign keys in your database, these will be replaced with "navigation properties" and "associations" between the related entities in your entity data model. You can database from the model and it's not working. In the error list there is no error but two warnings. https://espressocode.wordpress.com/2015/01/17/error-11007-entity-type-is-not-mapped/ Right-click on *.edmx and open with XML(Text) Editor. There are three main blocks in the xml file (SSDL, CSDL, and the Mapping). CSDL block is where you have the error. If you point to that, it will show the error 11007. Now you come back to model design window and click generate database from context menu. Using the is not procedure to generate the database it works well and you have your database created. Choose build solution and check if it compiles the application and mostly importantly if it automatically generates a DbContext class for you use to access the database.
