You need to mapcreatedassociation to the table of the many side in order to finish the process. Click on the association and in the Table Mapping View map the association to the table of the many side - Persons. After doing so you'll need to map the relevant keys on both sides. In a old post I wrote about how to add many to many relationship I showed an example how to do such a thing in Step 3 – Adding Many to Many Association in the Designer. You can look at it here: http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/gilf/archive/2009/03/07/adding-many-to-many-relationship-between-entities.aspxI hope it will help you.Gil Fink Marked as answer by Yichun_Feng Wednesday, October 21, 2009 1:05 AM Thursday, October 15, 2009 5:34 AM Reply | Quote All replies 1 Sign in to vote Hi,When you create an association in the designer it isn't enough. Entity Type Has No Entity Set
takes a minute: Sign up Entity Framework - cannot generate database from my EDMX because new entities are not in database? up vote 4 down vote favorite Having got a chunk of my application working with Entity Framework 4.1, I https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/dc506361-10e5-4bf6-8b98-b1d4d60a85b0/how-to-create-association-betwwen-two-entities-in-edm-designer-?forum=adodotnetentityframework needed to add a couple more tables. I created the entities and associations in the Model Viewer and then ask it to generate the database from the model. Immediately I get a selection of validation errors and a pop-up informs me that I must clear all validation errors before I can generate the database. The errors in question are all along the lines of: Error 11007: Entity type 'EntityName' is not mapped. Or Error 11008: Association 'AssociationName' is not mapped. I http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8670748/entity-framework-cannot-generate-database-from-my-edmx-because-new-entities-ar get this error once for each new Entity and Association I have created. Now I get that they are not mapped to the database yet, this seems quite logical as they are totally new to the model. That is why I'm trying to use the "Generate Database From Model" tools to generate the database. Am I understanding correctly that I cannot generate a new database from the model because the new Entities and Associations I have added to the Model are not already in the database? If so, how do I work around this? visual-studio-2010 entity-framework poco share|improve this question asked Dec 29 '11 at 16:53 glenatron 7,45374686 2 If all that's wrong is unmapped associations and entities, "generate database from model" should work, and I've used it that way myself. Are you sure all your errors are about yet-unmapped entities, or might there be one real error hidden in a list of dozens of ignorable errors? –hvd Dec 29 '11 at 17:09 Aha! A sneaky little association that I had deleted in the editor but it had somehow not properly deleted from the .EDMX file hidden away there. Good tip @hvd. Any chance of reworking that comment as an answer? –glenatron Dec 29 '11 at 18:54 I'd be happy to, but if you can recall what you did to get the error (how specifically you deleted the association), it would be more useful if

I then have a function import that uses a stored procedure. The method created by the function import is supposed to return a is not mapped collection of the custom entity I created. The problem is that I get an error when I build that says "The entity type 'someentity' is not mapped. What does this mean? Is it upset because the entity does not have an underlying data store? It doesn't need one, the function import returns instances of this entity and I have no need to update, edit, or insert entities of this type. The function import works great and returns a collection of my entity as desired, but this error is annoying. Though the error list lists it as a compile error, it does not actually stop the solution from compiling. Any help is appreciated. UPDATE If I open the EDMX in the XML editor and double click the error in the error list it highlights this chunk of XML in red:
